Chapter 33 – Natural
I do not own SOA, youtube, or Imagine Dragons.
The president hugged each of his brothers before they took their seats. Chibs was the last one to enter the room as he sat Aislinn down at the bar. Jax nodded her direction and Aislinn waved in return.
“She alright?” Jax questioned.
“Been better…” Chibs murmured in response then shut the door behind them.
Everyone looked to Jax as he took a seat at the gavel. The president nodded his VP’s direction.
“So what happened? Why’s Aislinn looking like she had another round with Jimmy?”Jax asked, and Chibs patted himself down in search of a smoke.
Bobby slid one over, and Chibs lit it before answering that. He tapped that cigarette against a nearby ashtray then began Aislinn and Milo’s story.
“Jesus…” Jax whispered afterward, and Chibs gave a mere nod.
“Girl has some rotten luck.” Bobby murmured looking ill.
“That she does,” Chibs uttered in agreement.
Tig, Juice, and Happy shook their heads in disbelief. Meanwhile, Kip was eyeing Chibs down, something fierce. Chibs took notice and nodded that direction.
“Ye got somethin’ ta say, boy?!” The VP challenged, and Kip rolled his eyes.
Chibs let out a rather dark laugh.
“Ye were eatin’ that up. Weren’t ye boy?! And now yer pissed…” Chibs cruelly hinted, and Kip shot up at this.
“You’re goddamn right I am!” Kip shouted while slamming his fist down on the table.
Jax raised his brows on this.
“I’m not your prospect anymore.” He said but was looking to Jax and Chibs as he did.
“I earned my place, just like everyone else! But I’m yours and Chibs’s punching bag, and I’m fucking SICK and TIRED of it! I won’t be the Trager to your fucking Morrow. You can eat a dick before I stoop that low.”
Tig reared back in offense and Jax had a good laugh at this.
“You done?” The president questioned with that sinister grin of his.
Kip curled his lip.
“You’ll be whatever I tell you to be…” Jax made clear as he was thinking back to his son and what Kip exposed him to.
“Nah, I won’t play that game. I won’t take the fall for what you two did. I’m not the one that hid a porn studio from my old lady! And I damn sure wasn’t the one responsible for Aislinn when she fucking took off. That…” Kip pointed to Chibs.
“THAT WAS ON YOU!” Kip pointed to Jax next.
“Now the DVD… that was MY bad. I take full responsibility. I’ll meet you in that ring… But I’m not holding back. I’m done when it comes to that. Your fuck ups are not mine! If you have a problem with that, you can take my patch, chop it in half, and cram ‘em up your asses!”
“Alright, let’s get this over with,” Jax announced as he shot to his feet and removed his cut and shirt.
“Now?!” Kip questioned looking apprehensive.
“Why not?!” Jax said, and everyone followed them out to the ring.
Chibs glanced over as Aislinn was standing beside him now.
“What’s this?” She asked as the Sons gathered around.
“Kip’s earned himself a good ole fashion ass-whoopin ’.”
“How’d he do that?!”
Chibs told her about the porno, and Aislinn’s jaw dropped.
“Well, I should say so!” She remarked in surprise and Chibs chuckled.
“It’ll be a good one… Jackie boy’s got a bit of a challenge ahead of him.”
This had Aislinn regarding Chibs in wonder.
“Did Sack ever tell ye how he lost that nut?”
“No,” Aislinn said as they watched the fight.
“He was servin’ in Iraq and caught a ricochet durin’ an explosion. Sliced the poor bastard’s ball right off. But here’s the kicker… He was a lightweight champion of the boxin’ competition at the time.”
“You’re coddin’ (Joking).”
“Nah, and Jackie knows this. Why do ye think he’s got that shit-eatin’ grin about him? He knows he’s got one hell of a fight comin’ his way.”
“And ya lads say we women are mad!”
Chibs chuckled but was quick to howl out when Jax took the first swing. Aislinn recoiled at Kip’s rather stunned presence. He shook it off however and swung in return. Jax dodged the attempt, and Kip managed to jab him in the gut. Jax sent a few blows to Kip’s face, and once again Kip returned the favor. Aislinn couldn’t believe what she was seeing. They were toe to toe, and Kip unleashed just as much as Jax put out. Jax laughed as this went on longer than expected but neither were willing to go down. Kip meant it when he said he wasn’t holding back. But this only added to Jax’s respect, despite the idiocy Kip pulled when it came to his son, Kip was a good guy and an authentic member of the club. Jax felt the need to test him off and on, however, and that’s what this was now. Kip standing up for himself and without so much as blinking… That’s what Jax had always wanted for him. That was the real reason behind pushing him so hard. He knew Kip had what it took, but he had to hit that nerve and find the true Son within him. And here he was… ready to go. Kip wasn’t holding back for anything. Kip’s days of being quiet and reserved were long gone, and Jax couldn’t be prouder. At times it felt like he was raising these prospects. Often enough they were just like children. They came into this clubhouse, without a fucking clue. Kip was one of the ones that had to learn the hard way. He was thrown right into the pit and hadn’t a choice but to act under pressure. They’d lost five prospects during Kip’s probationary days. That was the real reason behind the hazing and ridiculous missions. The Sons knew if they couldn’t handle the trivial nonsense and a little humiliation to go with that, they couldn’t handle the real shit.
That wasn’t a chance they could take. That’s why they tested these prospects with whatever came to mind. The closer you came to earning that patch, the harder the tasks.
Jax let out a grunt-like growl when Kip struck him so hard, Jax got rope burn across his cheek, lip, and chin. The president shook it off then drove his body against Kip’s. Kip lost his footing and fell back, and Jax had his knee right against his newly attached nut.
“Please don’t.” Kip damn near whimpered.
“Government only covered fifteen percent. Rest came out of my pocket. So if you’re going to take a cheap shot…”
Jax moved his knee then hopped up. He offered Kip a hand then helped him to his feet.
“I’m not that much of an asshole,” Jax said letting him know this was just his way of ending the match because they were low on time.
“To be continued…” Jax said with a smirk, and Kip laughed.
“You really want your ass kicked, don’t you?!”
Jax didn’t comment and used his shirt to wipe the blood off his face. He headed inside and grabbed a clean one from the backroom then headed back to the chapel where the others waited.
“Where do you think?” Bobby scoffed then pointed towards the bar.
Jax leaned back, and each of them watched as Chibs had his hand along Aislinn’s ass and was getting his flirt on. The president chuckled amongst himself but cleared his throat and loud enough for Chibs to hear it. Chibs peered back, and Jax gave him a simple nod.
“Right…” Chibs uttered before moving that hand and darting on back.
The VP took his seat, and the president slammed the gavel down. This began the actual meeting…
Jax started off by going over the pros and cons to owning the porn studio. This had the Sons looking to one another in question. Bobby was first to speak up on this.
“Where you going with this Jax?”
“That’s what I’d like to know,” Tig added and Jax sighed.
The president revealed what took place with his son and Abel’s response to what he saw on that DVD.
“Come on Jax…” Bobby practically whispered.
“Don’t even go where I think you’re going with this.” The sergeant added.
“I gotta agree. I’m a very big fan of pussy. And that studio is our bread and butter, our baby.” Tig said, and Jax looked to be in thought.
“It won’t be mine.” Chibs declared taking each of them, including that of Jax by surprise.
“Ye can do whatever ye want with yer shares. But I’m out.”
“You can’t be serious!” Bobby snapped.
“It’s my decision ta make and I need each of ye ta respect that. I have my reasons…”
“Yeah, you do! Like you and Jax being pussy whipped motherfuckers! I can’t believe you two are buying into all this bullshit! There’s a big difference between running a human trafficking ring and owning a goddamn porn studio!”
“Ye sure about that?!” Chibs rather challenged.
“WE DON’T BEAT AND RAPE OUR GIRLS!” Bobby fired back.
“Yer right. We don’t. But our girls shoot those kinds of scenes all the time.”
“What are you talking about?!” Bobby questioned.
“That’s what I’d like to know!” Tig said.
The Scot closed his eyes for a moment and thought back to the scene Aislinn walked in on. How the man was choking the woman and telling her how much she liked it. He didn’t need to read Aislinn’s mind on that one. He knew damn well who she was picturing. The VP mentioned that particular scene and Aislinn’s reaction to it. Bobby laughed then shook his head in mere amusement.
“Look, I get it. They’ve been through some shit. We all know that. But we gotta learn to separate family business with club business. What you two got going with your old ladies shouldn’t affect MC business and the studio, THAT is MC business. It hasn’t anything to do with what we come home to!”
“That’s where you’re wrong.” Jax corrected.
“So Abel got exposed to a little porn. It was bound to happen. Hell, in a few years he’ll be knee deep in pussy and won’t think any different!”
Jax regarded Bobby in absolute disgust.
“Watch your mouth when you’re talking about my son.” The president warned, and his sergeant rolled his eyes.
“I didn’t realize I said anything offensive!”
“YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT MY FOUR-YEAR-OLD SON AND HOW MUCH PUSSY HE’S GOING TO GET!” Jax shouted.
“Well, if he’s anything like his old man…” Bobby fired in response and with a cocky grin.
“That’s enough.” Jax made clear.
“Fine. Say we sell the studio or what have you… whatever shit of a brainstorm you got going. Just how in the FUCK do you plan on making that money back?! HUH?! We don’t run guns anymore, and the garage damn sure doesn’t bring in enough. Even with Riona’s astounding contribution, it isn’t enough to keep us all afloat! I get that you want to take care of your family. But how are they going to eat Jax? How are we going to eat?!” Bobby spat.
Jax leaned back and observed as the Sons discussed this amongst one another. He didn’t utter a word as they tossed ideas about.
Happy randomly put, and everyone glanced his direction. He’d been quiet the entire time and was working on something in his sketchbook.
“Come again?” Tig questioned, and Happy lifted his eyes.
“I love those ladies Jax. You know that.” Happy said and with his eyes glued to Jax’s.
The president nodded but wondered where Happy was going with this.
“I’m not giving up the studio. It’s all I have left…” Happy hinted as to Otto and Jax nodded in complete understanding.
That was to be expected since Happy owned more of a percentage than anyone else at the table.
“But if you and Chibs want out… I don’t see why that would be a problem. It doesn’t have to be an MC thing.”
Bobby and Tig pulled certain faces on this, and Happy smiled their direction.
“Anyone that wants to stay in the biz then stay. But who are we to tell these two they can’t get out? I respect their decisions as well as their reasons.”
“The club needs Cara Cara!” Bobby declared.
“The club needs financial stability.” Happy reinstated and Bobby narrowed his eyes on this.
“That’s where Reaper Row comes in.” Happy said then slid his plans towards the middle of the table.
The Sons took turns looking everything over, and each of them regarded Happy in utter amazement.
“We monopolize the town…” He said as Jax was looking over the plans.
“How long have you been working on this?” Jax questioned as he was blown away by how much detail Happy had in these.
“Few months. I wasn’t ready to show them off just yet, but here you go.” Happy murmured and Chibs chuckled.
“Ye really think AC will go inta business with Jackie boy after bein’ turned down the first time?”
Jax had a good laugh at this.
“I can be pretty persuasive. Hold on… Doesn’t Ethan own a percentage of that bar as well?” Jax questioned as it just dawned on him.
“Aye, he does!”
“Well, there you go. I just gotta convince big brother to let me in on some of that!”
“Ali works there too now…” Chibs murmured in thought.
This had each of them looking to Chibs in shock.
“Really!?” Jax questioned with those gears of his turning.
“Oh yeah. Starts this weekend.”
“Doing what?” Jax curiously probed.
“Getting AC’s customer’s back for starters…”
“Wait… as in she’s playing?!”
“I know where I’m spending my weekends!” Bobby said with a wide grin, and the boys nodded in agreement.
“Aye now… Just give me girl some time ta warm up ta all this before ye go and scare her off!”
Bobby frowned and Chibs chuckled.
“A couple weekends at least, alright?” Chibs bargained, and the Sons looked to one another before agreeing.
“Fine…” Bobby grumbled.
“So… We’ve got a tattoo shop, updated garage, AC’s bar aka The Tipsy’s Crow’s Nest – I love that by the way!” Jax said, and Happy smiled.
“Annnnd whatever this question mark is…”
“I figured we’d put something there for the bible thumpers.” Happy taunted and Jax laughed.
“Adult toy store!” Tig threw in, and the Sons laughed.
“Come on guys… they’re repressed that’s the problem! Let Uncle Tig take care of em. I’ll show them the light, and they can praise Jesus at my altar !”
“You’re fucking serious, aren’t you?” Jax questioned, and Tig had this wide grin about him.
“We can call it the Love Shack or… Tiggy’s Playhouse!”
“Nah, I say we go with an actual toy store and sell dolls.” Jax taunted, and Tig sent him a look of utter hell.
“Not funny man. The only dolls I’m sellin’ are the fucking kind.”
“Wait… you fuck dolls now?!” Chibs threw in there, and everyone laughed.
“So you’re turning real pussy down for inflatable ones?!” The president provoked, and Tig shook his head with sheer annoyance.
Jax sent Happy a respectful nod knowing what he did for him and Chibs. This meant a lot to Jax considering how much fire they were under. Jax knew it was a long shot but had to try at least. But he knew he’d never take part in the porn biz again. That went double for Chibs. He was done way before Jax ever was. Jax could see it on the Scot’s face. He was relieved and looked as if a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. Jax wasn’t sure how he felt yet. Cara Cara had been a big part of his life and had been for years. But Jax knew he couldn’t juggle that lifestyle and look his wife and son in the eyes. There was no way that would ever work. He had to step away and find his calling elsewhere. Expanding Teller-Telford was a good start and thanks to Riona’s impeccable talent, they were bringing in more than enough customers to make this happen. They could add on and increase the flow. The garage started out as a cover for the Redwood Originals back when they were dealing guns. They never meant for it to keep afloat. But it did, and Jax hadn’t any plans of dropping the shop. There were too many memories tied to it. Jax saw his brother and father… JT taught Jax and Thomas everything they knew. He started them out young and kept with it.
“This will be yours one day. I want you to keep things simple. You and Thomas… run the shop. Let me worry about the bigger things.”
Jax nodded in memory then looked to the scar on the palm of his hand. Chibs took notice as the others were going on about Reaper Row still and their plans for it. The VP reached over and gave his president’s hand a comforting squeeze.
“I got ye, boy.” He softly uttered, and Jax smiled.
“I know.” He whispered in return.
“So who gets your shares?” They heard then looked to Tig as this came from him.
Jax and Chibs regarded one another in thought.
“Mine too…” Kip randomly said, and Jax regarded him in surprise.
“But you just got your share.”
If you’re patched in you automatically got a percentage. That was the deal Otto, and Happy made a while back.
“I know… and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I don’t want it.”
“Are you sure about that?” Jax questioned, and Kip nodded.
“Yeah. Doesn’t mean I won’t partake of the festivities though.” He said while wiggling his brows.
“But yeah, I’m out.”
Happy nodded Kip’s direction.
“I’ll split everything up.” Happy said.
Tig, Bobby, and Juice nodded in agreement.
“Thanks, brother.” Jax sincerely put, and Happy gave a mere nod.
“Please tell me you’re not sending our Crow Eaters away.” Bobby spat as the thought just occurred to him.
“Nah, you boys enjoy all the pussy you want.” Jax made clear, and Bobby sighed in relief.
Jax knew he’d lose his patch and their respect if he called forth a vote like that. That and the Lawless sisters hadn’t anything to worry on when it came to the Crow Eaters. Not that they did with the porn stars, but this was done out of respect for everything Galen and Jimmy put them through. The boys discussed their Reaper Row plans a little more before getting onto the next subject. That being the Aryan Brotherhood and how they’d be heading out soon. Jax hadn’t a chance to tell Riona about that yet. He kept in mind to do so tonight. The boys got straight to business and went over their plans. Jax nodded amongst himself once they had everything mapped out.
“All we need is a date now.” He uttered.
Jax twirled those Sons rings about then looked to his wedding band in thought.
“Why not this weekend…” Chibs suggested.
“Think we can have everything ready by then?”
“Alright… Let’s go for it then. We’ll head out Saturday morning.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
“Mommy, it grandma.” Abel excitably announced as his mother was switching out the laundry.
“Yeah, she making coffee.”
Riona dropped the hamper then scooped Abel up into her arms. She grabbed her cell phone and headed into the kitchen where Jax’s mother was.
“What are ya doin’?” Riona rather hissed as Gemma was making herself right at home.
“Coffee?” Gemma offered.
“I’m good. Abel love, why don’t ya go to your room?”
“But I wants to see grandma.”
“Of course you do baby. But you have to listen to your mother…” Gemma said taking Riona by surprise.
Abel frowned as Riona lowered him back down but did as his mother requested.
“How’d you get in here?”
Gemma dangled her keys about then stuffed them back into her purse.
“Place looks nice. Nicer than the doc ever kept it. That’s for certain.” Gemma said while sipping at her coffee and looking around.
She pulled out a chair then gestured for Riona to have a seat.
“I think you need to leave.”
“I won’t be long. I would’ve knocked but knew you wouldn’t answer.”
“Ya think?” Riona rather spat.
“Look, I didn’t come here to cause trouble. I wanted to talk, that’s all.”
“And what would ya like to talk about? Em?! How I’m usin’ your son? About me bein’ illegal?! OR my leprechaun of an accent?!”
Gemma cocked a brow on that last part and smiled. That smile, however, was soon to fade when she spotted the wedding ring on Riona’s finger. She grabbed her hand then got a better look.
“Tell me he didn’t…” Gemma whispered looking ill.
Riona clenched her teeth together and jerked her hand out of Gemma’s clutch.
“Jax…” Gemma muttered under her breath.
“Well, that certainly explains it.”
“Explains what…?” Riona unnervingly questioned.
“Why your bratty sister and Chibs wouldn’t let me into the clubhouse that day. You and Jax were getting hitched, and I clearly wasn’t invited! I wasn’t invited to the Fourth of July either!” Gemma shook her head in thought.
“Ya watch what ya say about my sister!”
“Just calling it the way I see it.”
“Well, you’re clearly blind, to a lot of things.”
“Oh come on… You two got those boys wrapped around your little fingers. And I’ve NEVER seen Chibs cater to ANYONE the way he caters to your sister. It’s like she hasn’t a mind of her own. Pitiful.”
Riona shot to her feet and snatched the cup of coffee out from Gemma’s hand. The young woman poured it down the sink then pointed towards the front door.
“I think ya’ve worn out your welcome.”
“Like that’s ever stopped me.” Gemma scoffed with laughter.
“Look, I don’t particularly care for you or your sister. Though I do appreciate what you’ve done for my grandson. I will be forever grateful. But this whole using the boys to get your way and earning that green card doesn’t fly with me! Between us women, you knew that was the plan all along. You and your sister needed an out and you did whatever you could to get it. You used my son and grandson in order to get there. But I’m willing to let bygones be bygones and ignore the obvious. All I care about is getting back in my son’s good graces and being in my boys lives again. They’re all I got and from my understanding all you got as well. So I’m willing to bend if you are.”
Gemma rolled her eyes.
“So dramatic. Honestly, get over yourself sweetheart. If it weren’t for the accent and those double D’s of yours my son would’ve moved on to something else by now. That’s not to say he won’t.”
“Hit a sore spot I see…”
“Ya say you’re not here to cause trouble, yet that’s all ya ever do! You’re not welcome here. Now please leave.”
“Not welcomed here? No sweetheart… that’s where you’re wrong. I’m always welcomed. I’m his mother, and that is my grandson. Now if you’d shut that ridiculous yap of yours and sit the fuck down, we could have an adult conversation.”
“Somethin’ tells me you and adult don’t mix, and I’m not the one stirrin’ the pot every time I see ya. It’s like ya can’t help yourself.”
Gemma placed a hand along Riona’s shoulder and was in attempts to get her to sit down when Riona spun around and shoved Gemma away from her.
“DON’T YA TOUCH ME!”
Gemma sighed as if merely annoyed.
“Ya need to leave before I call the police.”
The older woman had a good laugh at this.
“And tell them what? Hm?! That the big bad mother-in-law won’t leave? And what documents do you plan on showing them when you go to press charges.”
Gemma backed Riona up against the fridge then placed her hands up against it so Riona couldn’t escape.
“I’m not going anywhere. So you might as well deal. All I want is my son and grandson back in my life. Look, at it this way. You won’t need a babysitter. You can have all the free time you need. That baby boy’s in good hands with me, better than any babysitter and damn sure better than you! So here’s what you’re going to do… You’re going to tell Jax we made amends and all is right in the world. You’re going to let me see my grandson again, and we’re going to be civil with one another. If you cannot do that… You’ll see a side of me you’ve never seen. I’ll send you back to Ireland in a pine box, with that bratty sister of yours.”
Riona slugged Gemma across the face.
“Threaten me again… see what happens.” Riona warned afterward.
Gemma grabbed a fistful of Riona’s hair and was about to lay into her.
“LEAVE MY MOMMY ALONE!”
They heard then turned to see Abel standing at the doorway. His little hands were balled up into fists. His entire face was flushed over, and tears were streaming down his face.
Gemma let go of Riona’s hair then staggered back. Riona rushed on over and got a protective hold on Abel.
“GO!” She hollered with tears of her own.
Gemma gave a simple nod. She grabbed her purse then hurried on out the door.
“Hey, darlin’…” Jax greeted once he and the boys exited the chapel.
The president plopped down beside Aislinn on the couch and nudged his shoulder against hers.
“How you holding up?”
“Imma holdin’… I’m sorry.”
“I think we both know. Things got out of hand. I never meant for…” Jax shushed her, wrapped his arm around her then kissed the top of her head.
“We know who owes the apologies around here…” He whispered.
“Look at me…” He said.
Aislinn’s eyes locked with his and Jax sighed.
“I love you. I hope you know that. You can turn to me Aislinn, no matter, anytime.”
The young woman got a little emotional and hugged him.
“I love you too Jax.”
Jax nodded then hugged her in return. Chibs glanced over as he was sitting at the bar and talking to Happy.
“So is it true…?” Happy awkwardly uttered as he was looking that direction as well.
“She can’t have children… cause of Jimmy.”
“We’re not exactly sure yet…”
“You two gonna be okay?”
“Aye,” Chibs replied knowing the real meaning behind that.
Happy gave the VP’s shoulder a comforting squeeze.
“Good deal.” He said before heading to the garage.
“Where is she?!”
Aislinn shot up at the sound of her brother’s voice. He was standing by the clubhouse entrance. Ethan hadn’t a clue she was even here. He’d been swamped with work in the garage.
“Thank God.” Ethan softly expressed then took off her direction.
The man hugged her and lifted her up off the ground as he did.
“Ethan!” She scolded as she could barely breathe his hold was so snug.
“Sorry.” He apologetically murmured before lowering her back down.
“What were you thinking?!” Ethan snapped after getting a good look at her.
He ran a single finger along one of the cuts on her face.
“I wasn’t…” Aislinn shamefully admitted.
“I can’t believe you ran… What are you?! Sixteen?!”
“Now ya sound like Riona.”
Ethan sighed then looked to Chibs in thought.
“So what happened? I thought he hung the moon and stars…” Ethan harshly whispered.
“Well, aren’t ya just a ray of fuckin’ sunshine!” She spat, and Ethan dragged her into one of the backrooms.
He slammed the door shut behind them.
“I said I’d take care of you and Riona! How can I do that if you’re…”
“It’s not your job to take care of us!”
“You’re right. It isn’t. But I want to! What part of that don’t you get?! Huh?! I missed out on EVERYTHING!”
Ethan shook his head then paced the area before her.
“So what happened?” He asked yet again but in a softer tone.
He sat her down at a nearby table and listened as she revealed the truth behind everything. She started with the news her doctor gave her, and that led up to the studio and her break up with Chibs.
“Good Lord!” Ethan uttered once she got to the part about the sheriff.
“I’m so sorry. Aislinn… I…”
“Just one of those things…” She said while forcing a smile and Ethan hugged her once again.
“I thought you knew about the studio…” He whispered after dropping his hold.
“I did. But I didn’t know about Scotty’s involvement. I didn’t even know I was at the fuckin’ studio, Ethan. I just walked in and…” Aislinn recoiled in memory.
“Damn… Of all the things… He should’ve told you.”
“Aye,” Aislinn said in agreement.
“You let him have it?!” Ethan asked with a playful smirk, and Aislinn giggled.
“You know it!”
“That’s my girl.” He said but was looking to the ring on her finger.
“I’m guessing the engagement is back on?”
“Aye, it was all a misunderstanding…”
“Hiding a porn studio was a misunderstanding?!” Ethan sneered.
“Not quite… there was more to it.”
“Hmm…” Ethan hummed with this unamused look about him.
“So AC tells me you’re working there now…” He said after taking notice of the uneasy look in her eyes.
“Start this weekend.”
“That’s awesome,” Ethan said with a genuine beam.
“I thought so. I didn’t know ya was workin’ there! Not until I saw your picture.”
“Yeah, I’m one of the owners.”
“Yep. The bar was taking a turn for the worse and AC needed someone with a little more experience.”
“That’s not the way he made it sound…” Aislinn admitted, and Ethan cocked a brow on this.
“Aye, AC made no mention of ya bein’ his partner.”
“Well, that’s certainly the AC way of doing things! That cocky bastard!”
Ethan let out a frustrated sigh.
“Still, how cool is that?! Working with my baby sister. Heard you drew in quite a crowd too!”
“Ya could say that…” Aislinn said with a shrug and Ethan chuckled.
“We could use that… business slowed down again once the customers realized you weren’t playing. They ask about you constantly. It drives AC crazy!”
“Gonna need a brace for my hand though,” Aislinn said then revealed the massive bruise going across her hand from where the sheriff stepped on it.
Ethan looked it over and recoiled.
“I think I got an idea, a couple actually. I’ll bring them with me Saturday. If you can wait that long…”
“Aye, I just need it for playin’. It’s been a bit of a struggle.” She admitted.
“I can see that. We’ll get you taken care of.”
“Guess I better make a playlist.”
“You sound nervous.”
“A wee bit…”
“You’re going to rock it.”
“Never done a show on my own before, not really…”
“You’ll be just fine. I’ll make sure of it.”
“I haven’t told Riona yet.”
“You say that like she’ll disapprove…”
“More like I’m stealin’ her thunder. Riona was on that stage way before I ever was.”
“Something tells me that’s not how she’d see it. I think she’d be proud of you. Besides, you know she won’t be able to help herself. She’ll be joining you off and on.”
“It’ll be good for you Aislinn. You need this. I’m sure Riona would agree. Time to spread those wings.”
“Aye, well let’s just hope I don’t take a nose dive in the process.”
Ethan chuckled in thought.
“I seriously doubt that. We need you Aislinn. AC’s been foaming at the mouth to get someone like you.”
Aislinn frowned, however, and Ethan tilted his head in wonder.
“Does this mean I have to answer to you?!”
Ethan had a good laugh at this but nodded.
“Now that’s some arseways shite right there!”
“Hey, I hadn’t a clue he’d even hired you! And at least you’re not working for your brother-in-law. How fucked up is that shit?!”
Aislinn broke into a fit of laughter and Ethan offered her a hand up.
“Sorry for going all brother bear on you.”
“Pffft, that was nothin’. Ya should hear some of the knockout drag outs me and Riona have had!”
“I have…” Ethan reminded, and Aislinn laughed.
“Right. Ya stalker!”
Ethan opened the door then gestured for her to step on out. Chibs sent her a concerned nod, and she smiled letting him know all was well. Aislinn headed outside as she heard her sister and Abel’s voice.
“Look, mommy it Aunt Linny!” Abel squealed and ran up to her.
Aislinn smiled then lifted the boy into her arms. She kissed him on the cheek, and Abel giggled.
“Where’s you go Aunt Linny?”
“Just took a bit of a trip…”
“Cause Uncle Chibs hurts your feelings like daddy hurts mommy’s?”
Aislinn looked to her sister in surprise.
“He and Jax had a wee heart to heart…” Riona softly explained, and Aislinn nodded in understanding.
“Abel love, why don’t ya go find daddy and let him know we’re here.” His mother suggested.
Aislinn set him down, and Abel ran into the clubhouse.
“Driving his truck I see…”
“Aye,” Riona said but with that motherly air about her.
Aislinn sighed taking notice.
“Go ahead with your lock-hard (unwanted advice)!”
Riona shook her head but took her sister by surprise when she hugged her instead. Riona broke into sobs and Aislinn flinched.
“I’m sorry…” She whispered thinking that had to do with her leaving the way she did.
Riona pulled back then fixed her sister’s hair. She placed her hands along the apples of her cheeks afterward.
“Ya know I’m there for ya. You’re not goin’ through this alone.”
Aislinn swallowed back as she’d a knot forming within the back of her throat. The young woman gave a mere nod, and Riona kissed her cheek.
“I love ya.”
“Love ya too.”
“I won’t fill your ears with nonsense. Lord knows what I would’ve done in your situation. Who am I to judge? That was quite a day you had… I’m just glad you’re home, safe and sound.”
Aislinn nodded then followed her sister into the office. Riona turned the lights on, and Aislinn took a seat. She observed as her sister got ready for work.
“Don’t ya get bored in here?” Aislinn murmured with a frown.
“Aye…” Riona said with a giggle then turned her PC on.
“This would drive me crazy.”
“I know… Ya and that ADHD!”
“I don’t have ADHD!”
“Ya sure about that?!”
Riona put her glasses on, and Aislinn snorted.
“What?!” Riona rather snipped.
“You’re a big ole nerd! Look at ya!”
“Aye well, Jackson happens to like it!”
Aislinn raised her brows on this and Riona nodded.
Aislinn covered her mouth in laughter.
“Well aren’t ya a naughty thing. So… where… the desk?!” Aislinn hinted, and Riona nodded but with a flushed face.
“He’s bringin’ out a side of ya I never knew existed! I can’t believe you’re havin’ sex at work!”
“Annnd I walked right inta that one.”
The girls peered back and saw Chibs standing at the doorway. Aislinn died of laughter, and Riona sighed.
“I think I took on the wrong job! I should be workin’ under Scotty instead!” Aislinn teased, and her sister’s face turned a darker shade of red.
“Ya can stop now…” Riona harshly whispered.
“Nah, this is too much fun. I gotta talk to Jax and get all the dets!”
“Ya wanna know about my sex life?”
“A wee bit…” Aislinn shamelessly admitted, and Riona shook her head in laughter.
“I was goin’ ta offer ye a ride home, but it looks like you’re pretty comfy,” Chibs uttered with a grin and Aislinn squirmed about in her seat.
“Aye, very comfy!”
“Oh no… You’re not stayin’ here!” Riona made clear.
Chibs chuckled as Aislinn was giving her sister hell.
“I’ll leave ya two to it then.”
“Scotty…” Aislinn uttered in such a way.
This had the Scot spinning back around. He nodded once he saw what she was looking at. Riona had today’s paper in hand, and the incident in Calpine was on the front page.
“What?!” Riona questioned as to the peculiar look on their faces.
Aislinn snatched the paper out of her sister’s hold and went on to read it.
“…okay…” Riona uttered as she wasn’t aware of the incident yet.
“Ali…” Chibs called trying to gather his fiancée’s attention.
The girl kept reading, however, and Chibs sighed then took the paper out of her hand.
“I covered our tracks… Nothin’s tracin’ back ta you, me, or yer friend. Alright?” Chibs did his best to reassure.
Aislinn nodded, and Riona’s jaw dropped.
“Wait… That was you two?!” She exclaimed, and Chibs nodded but with a sigh.
“What in the world…”
Chibs pulled the door to and quietly explained.
“Why didn’t ya tell me?!” Riona questioned once he finished.
“I was goin’ to. I hadn’t a chance yet.” Aislinn said.
“I can’t believe he went and taped ya to a toilet! What kind of…”
“I’m alright Riona.” Aislinn interrupted as her sister was getting overly emotional.
Riona removed her glasses then pinched her eyes shut. Chibs nodded in understanding. Riona looked about the way he felt when he first saw Aislinn on that toilet. That’s what made him snap and kill those deputies.
“Promise ya won’t go and pull somethin’ like that again,” Riona uttered.
“Thought ya wasn’t given’ me the lock-hard.”
“This isn’t what this is, and ya know it. I don’t need to tell you what could’ve happened… And there’s nothin’ I can say that I’m sure your man hasn’t said already. I’m not goin’ to mother ya. I know you hate that. I just…”
“I know,” Aislinn said and Riona’s eyes locked with her sister’s.
“I’ll be more careful. I promise.”
“I sure hope so.”
“Aye, if she doesn’t live up ta that I’ll hogtie her then lock her away in me dungeon!” Chibs teased with a wink Riona’s direction.
“She might need it! I’m just glad she’s YOUR responsibility now!”
Aislinn frowned on this and Chibs chuckled.
“Ya say that like I’m a wee child!”
“Cause ya are!” Riona taunted but with a playful grin.
“Ya just shut that gob of yours Riona!”
Jax waved his son into the garage once he saw him peeking inside.
“Hi, daddy.” Abel greeted.
“I no see you in the clubhouse, so I comes here.”
Jax lifted the boy into his arms and hugged him.
“Mommy working in the office.”
“Is she now?”
“Yeah. Mommy no have a good day.”
“And why’s that?” Jax curiously questioned as Ethan handed the boy a blow pop.
“Thank you,” Abel said and looked to see what flavor.
“Watermelon my favorite!”
“I remembered!” Ethan said with a wink and got back to work.
“So why is mommy having a bad day?” Jax questioned.
“Grandma come visit, but mommy tells her to leave, and she no leave. So they gets in a fight, and grandma says she gonna send her and Aunt Linny back to Ireland in a box. Mommy gets really mad and hits her and grandma going to hit mommy too but I no let her!”
Jax’s eyes went wild, and this had Happy, Ethan, Juice, and Tig’s attention as well.
“Jesus…” Jax whispered and kissed his son’s forehead.
“Are you alright?” He questioned with concern.
“I is okay but mommy she sad. I no know why grandma do that.”
“Keep an eye on him, will ya?” Jax said with a nod Ethan’s direction.
Ethan nodded then pulled up a chair for Abel to sit in while he worked.
Jax knocked on the office door before stepping inside. He nodded Aislinn and Chibs’s direction.
“You two mind giving us a moment?” He respectfully asked.
“Sure thing.” Chibs murmured then escorted Aislinn on out of the office.
The VP pulled the door to behind them, and the president locked it.
“Long day, huh?”
“Ya could say that.”
Jax nodded then leaned against Riona’s desk. He lit a cigarette while she answered a customer’s call, and waited until she was done.
“So mom came by..?”
Riona lifted her eyes on this.
“More like invited herself in…”
“Aye, a heads up would’ve been nice. Ya didn’t tell me yer mother had a key! Anyone else I should know about?!”
“She must’ve made a copy after Tara…” Jax trailed off then pinched his eyes shut.
“I’m sorry. I’ll change the locks before I leave tomorrow.”
Jax cleared his throat then folded his arms about his chest.
“So what happened?”
Riona told him everything that was said between her and his mother and about the physical altercation. She admitted to hitting first, and Jax let out a miserable laugh.
“I’m sorry. I know she’s your mother, but I won’t have her comin’ into our home and treatin’ me like that!”
“Riona babe, if anyone should be apologizing, it should be her! She’s lucky she didn’t get her head blown off!”
“I thought about it…” Riona said with a playful grin, and Jax chuckled.
“Man… Seems like I’m always apologizing for my crazy past and family.” Jax groaned, and Riona came to her feet.
“Welcome to the club! We should hook my father up with your mother! I’d hook my ex-husband up with your ex-wife, but he’s a wee bit dead. ” She teased, and Jax died of laughter.
“Talk about a nightmare.”
Jax brought her into his arms and kissed her.
“I’ll take care of my mother, alright?”
“I can handle your mother. Ya got enough to worry about.”
“That’s just it… My mother isn’t something you should have to handle. She’s in need of a serious reality check.”
“Ya should’ve seen her face when Abel told her off.”
“Aye, she acted as if he shot her! It was the craziest thing.”
“Yeah well, she just ruined whatever relationship she and Abel had. She doesn’t seem to grasp how protective he is of you. That’s her own doing.”
“Scotty!” Aislinn reprimanded as he’d snuck up behind her and was tickling her.
“You’re gonna make me spill Abel’s drink!”
“No do that Uncle Chibs!” Abel scolded, and Chibs chuckled.
“Ya heard the lad!”
Abel giggled when Chibs popped her on the rear. He sent the boy a playful wink then sat beside him at the bar.
“Ye drink all that and yer old man will be carryin’ ye home!” His uncle teased.
“I’m not even done yet!” Aislinn said as she tossed a cherry and shot of vanilla into Abel’s drink.
“Aye, now ye’ve done it. We’ll have to mop him up.”
“You no mop me up. You is silly Uncle Chibs! Aunt Linny says this is the best way to drink a Dr. Pepper!”
“Dr. Pepper? With cherry and vanilla?!” Chibs scoffed, and Aislinn nodded.
“Ya should try it.”
“I think I’ll stick ta kidney failure.” The Scot uttered then pointed towards his favorite beer.
Aislinn poured it into a mug and slid it over. Chibs went to take a drink only to have her toss a cherry inside. Abel died of laughter when Chibs frowned and removed the cherry from his glass. He threw it at Aislinn and shook his head as if to scold her.
“Thought ya liked cherries…” She teased.
“Aye… yers. And I done took care of that already.” He uttered with a playful grin.
Aislinn knew he was teasing, but it meant a lot to her that he saw it that way rather than it being Jimmy. Something about that melted her heart. The others had entered the clubhouse as well as they’d closed shop for the day. Aislinn served each of them their favorite drinks and listened as they talked about the trip ahead of them. Riona entered the clubhouse last and sat on the other side of Abel.
“Aunt Linny makes me a Dr. Pepper with cherries and vanilla, Mommy!”
“Oh, that sounds lovely .”
Aislinn smiled then made her sister one as well. The young woman kept quiet as everyone socialized. She thought back to her little road trip with Milo and his words of wisdom. She couldn’t imagine life without Chibs or anyone else in this room. Aislinn looked to the corner of the room where her brother was. He was by himself and sipping on a beer. Aislinn made her way over then sat across from him.
“Couldn’t be better.” He said with a smile then handed her a cigarette.
“How do you do it?”
Aislinn drew back a breath before answering.
“Get out of bed… and push yourself after…”
“My son…?” He whispered in return, and she nodded.
“I do it for him. You see… I don’t know if there’s a God or not but on the off chance that there might be… I don’t want my son looking down on me and seeing that I gave up. I can’t do that to him. I need him to see me at my best even if my best is my worst. If that makes any sense…”
Aislinn gave a tearful smile, and Ethan took her hand into his own.
“It’s not over for you Aislinn. You’re going to be a mother. You’ll see…”
Aislinn nodded then wiped a stray tear from her face.
“Hell, I’ll give you a puppy for now!” He teased, and Aislinn giggled.
“Oh, Scotty would love that!”
Ethan cleared his throat then downed the rest of his beer.
“Ready for tomorrow?” He questioned as to her first day on stage.
“About as ready as I’ll ever be. I should be practicing.” She admitted.
“YOU?! Are you kidding? Like you need practice!”
“Practice makes perfect.”
“Yeah well, I think you’re already there.”
“That’s just you actin’ all big brother like.”
“Not even… Come on Aislinn even you have to know you kick some serious ass. And between us… I know you think you need Riona in order to accomplish that, but you don’t. It’s your time now. Don’t feel bad about it either. She wants this for you just as much.”
“Ya make it sound as if Riona and I won’t perform together again.”
“Not even… You two are far from done. What I’m saying is you are just as talented as she is.”
“Aye, well she taught me everythin’ I know.”
“True. But that wail of yours… That’s all you. That’s what makes you unique.”
Aislinn jumped at the sound of her sister’s voice, and Ethan laughed. His younger sister sent him a look of complete hell.
“Sorry… She made me do it!” Ethan said with a shrug.
“Ya mean she was listening, the whole time?!”
“Sort of…” Ethan admitted.
“And I thought she was an arse!”
Riona laughed then plopped down beside her sister.
“Ethan told me about AC hirin’ ya a few days ago. I was hopin’ ya would’ve told me by now, but ya didn’t.” Riona said with a pouty expression.
“I wasn’t sure how.”
“Why?! Linny love, ya have every reason to be on that stage. Ethan’s right. Ya don’t need me. Ya never did. But that doesn’t mean we’re done. We came to America for a reason… You’re free love, and this is your dream. Live it to the fullest and don’t ya go and worry about what I’m doin’. Ya know I’ll always support you.”
“It was our dream.”
“Aye, and it still is. But there’s nothin’ wrong with takin’ a wee break and findin’ ourselves in the meantime. Ya know I’ll always love ya and nothin’ ya do is goin’ to change that. So ya go on that stage Saturday night and make me proud.”
Aislinn hugged her sister, and Ethan laughed as she burst into tears.
“You’re a fuckin’ arse makin’ me cry and all!” Aislinn scolded, and Riona smiled.
“So ya gonna be there?” The young woman questioned.
“No.” Riona firmly put.
Aislinn narrowed her eyes on this.
“I don’t need to be there Linny. It’s your time to shine, and ya don’t need me there to do that.”
Aislinn nodded in understanding.
“Besides, we got our big brother lookin’ after ya. I know you’re in good hands.” Riona added with a wink Ethan’s direction.
“Ye ready darlin’?” The VP questioned as most of the Sons had already left.
Aislinn nodded then came to her feet.
“Guess I’ll see you Saturday night,” Ethan said.
Ethan pecked his sister on the cheek before following Happy out. Jax made his way over and had Abel in his hold.
“Hold on…” Jax called before Chibs and Aislinn headed out the door.
“I want you three at Happy’s while we’re gone.”
Riona reared back in question, and Aislinn was looking to Chibs.
“Happy volunteered to stay behind with a couple prospects. You’re not to go anywhere without them. I mean it.” Jax couldn’t go into detail, not with Abel right there but had to express the importance behind this. If anything went south, Weston would come after Abel and the Lawless family. He’d do whatever he could to hurt Jax and Chibs.
“Understood,” Aislinn uttered, and Chibs nodded in full agreement.
“We’s gonna stay with Happy and Ethan?!”
“That’s right lil man.”
“We has to play our games!” Abel excitably put, and Ethan chuckled.
“You know it, lil ass kicker!”
“I kills more zombies than you this time Ethan!”
“We’ll just see about that!”
“No one can top me!” Happy challenged and Ethan laughed out in mockery.
“Alright, I accept both challenges!” Ethan declared, and Happy gave a firm nod.
“We’ll have a little rally tomorrow night, but we’ll be leaving first thing Saturday morning.” Jax said.
“Little?” Riona challenged knowing how out of hand these gatherings of theirs got.
“That’s right,” Jax uttered with a smirk.
“Got us a babysitter too.”
Riona frowned on this and Jax laughed.
“We can trust her. She’s one of Abel’s old daycare teachers.”
“Neeta?” Abel said with a squeal.
“She was my favorite.”
“I know. Didn’t take much convincing either.”
“Neeta a good babysitter, mommy,” Abel said as his father wasn’t the only one to take notice of the troublesome look on Riona’s face.
“You’ll meet her tomorrow,” Jax added.
“If you say so.”
“Abel, why don’t you head on out with Aunt Linny and Uncle Chibs? We’ll be right there.”
“Okays!” Abel said then took his uncle by the hand.
Jax waited until the three of them were out of sight.
“It could be sometime before I see you again…” Jax reminded, and Riona sighed.
“I want you there. Please. We can trust Neeta. I’ve known her for some time.”
“If ya trust her then I trust her.”
“Aye, just wasn’t expectin’ that was all. I’ve never met the woman.”
“I know. I’m sorry. But I need Kip with me and after what he pulled… I’m not too keen on the idea of leaving Abel with him. That and Kip’s right… I need to start treating him like an actual Son. He’s more than earned his way, aside from that little incident that is.”
“So you’ll be there?”
Jax smiled then put his forehead to hers.
“Thank you.” He sincerely put.
Jax knew his wife wasn’t much for these rallies as they were wild, chaotic, and filled with sex and booze. But he was hoping she’d focus on being with him and ignore everything around them. All he cared about was having her there.
Chibs pulled up to the house then killed the engine. The two sat in silence and stared straight ahead. They hadn’t been home since they’d gotten back to Charming. The Scot reached over and ran his finger along her ring.
“I’m glad yer home.” He whispered.
There was another moment of silence.
“Guess ya won’t be seein’ me on stage Saturday…”
“Nah, wish I could darlin’.” And he meant it too.
Chibs wanted to be there but hadn’t a choice. The Sons had to head out first thing Saturday morning. The Scot opened his door but signaled for Aislinn to stay put. He made his way around then opened hers. He held out his hand, and Aislinn took ahold of it. Chibs pulled her on out of the car then shut the door. He lifted her up on the hood, pressed himself against her then kissed her. Aislinn let out a surprised gasp when Chibs ripped her shirt open.
“I’ll buy ye a new one.” He muttered as he sucked one of her nipples into his mouth.
The Scot took his time licking and sucking on her breasts. He knew he was torturing himself considering… But he needed some sort of release. Her scent hit him something fierce on the drive home, and all he could think about was pulling over and giving her a thorough fucking. The Scot hoped to God she’d be ready by tomorrow. He’d find a way if not. He wasn’t about to leave without giving her some sort of release in return. Chibs unfastened his pants then leaned into her ear.
“Mind helpin’ me out?” He hinted while placing her hand along his dick.
Aislinn smiled then gave it a few strokes. Chibs closed his eyes and let out a bit of a growl.
“Why don’t ye go and give him a long wet kiss?” He uttered as he lowered her down.
The young woman dropped to her knees, and Chibs threw his head back the moment he felt the warmth of her lips. The Scot hadn’t realized just how pent-up he was. He placed his hand along the back of her head and fucked that pretty mouth of hers. Chibs pulled out but shot into her mouth. He watched as it ran off her tongue, onto her lips, and down her chin.
“…fuck…” he muttered then used his thumb to wipe it off.
He placed his thumb into her mouth and watched as she licked it clean.
“I owe ye one darlin’.” He vowed then helped her back to her feet.
“That ya do!” She teased, and Chibs chuckled.
“Hell, I’ll make certain ye can’t walk, pet!”
Chibs reached over then patted the nightstand in search of his cell phone as it rang. He had his other arm wrapped around Aislinn as she slept.
“Jackie?” He whispered so not to wake her.
“No Uncle Chibs it no daddy. It me!”
Chibs couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Well, good mornin’ Abel.”
“Yer sure up early…” Chibs uttered as he looked to the time.
“Yeah, mommy and daddy still asleep.”
“I gonna talk to you okay?”
“Ye are, are ye?” The Scot found this somewhat amusing. Abel sounded just like his father when he was talking business. Chibs pictured Abel sitting at the gavel and staring him down as he spoke.
“Yeah. I no wants you and daddy to hurt mommy and Aunt Linny no more. Okay?”
Chibs raised his brows on this.
“Is that so?” The Scot uttered in disbelief.
“Yeah. It no very nice. They’s my best friends, and I no want them sad.”
“Aye, I think we can arrange that.”
“You says sorrys, right?”
“I sure did.”
“Good cause we no do that to girls, Uncle Chibs.”
Chibs sat up on this and shook his head. He couldn’t believe this kid. But he was his father’s son through and through, and Chibs felt like he was talking to a miniature JT. JT was all about respect when it came to women.
“That’s right. We don’t do that lad.” The Scot agreed.
“Okays. I loves you.”
“I love you too kid, and I promise ta take care of yer aunt.”
“Okay, me and daddy take care of my mommy.”
“Bye, Uncle Chibs!”
Chibs put the phone down then chuckled amongst himself. He couldn’t believe he got schooled by a little kid, Jax’s son at that!
“Everythin’ alright?” Aislinn tiredly questioned, and Chibs nodded.
He lay back down then pulled her into his arms. He kissed the top of her head then kissed along her shoulder.
“Just Abel layin’ down the law.”
“Aye. He wanted ta make certain I was doin’ my job.”
“Are ya serious?!” She said with a giggle.”
“Aye… Kid isn’t lettin’ a soul fuck with ye two.”
“Gotta hit the jacks!” Aislinn randomly announced.
Chibs sighed in disappointment as she scurried on out of bed. He chuckled however as he could hear her peeing.
“It’s like Niagara Falls in there, darlin’!” He hollered while stuffing a cigarette into his mouth.
“Aye, you’re funny!”
She washed up then stepped out with a smile.
“Guess who’s rockin’ my world tonight?!”
“If ye say James Hetfield…” He said as she had on a black pair of Metallica panties and nothing else.
“I wish…” She taunted.
Chibs put that cigarette into the ashtray then shot up from the bed. Aislinn snorted and went to step out of his reach, but the Scot was too fast. He grabbed her then brought her onto the bed. He spanked her on the ass, and she giggled as she was in attempts to get away.
“Nah, ye earned that one and ye know it!”
The Scot grumbled something about that greasy scumbag James Hetfield and gave her another smack on the rear. Aislinn rolled over, and Chibs shook his head as she had that cutesy grin of hers going.
“Yer somethin’ else ye know that?!”
She nodded but ran a hand along his chest.
“Just promise me you’ll be careful Scotty…” She hinted as to the mission ahead of him and the rest of SAMCRO.
“Aye, I will.” He vowed before kissing her.
“But I don’t want ye focusin’ on that tonight love. Let’s put that and everythin’ else aside just for tonight.”
“I can do that.” She said, and Chibs kissed her once again.
“That’s me girl.”
“Where ya off to?” Riona tiredly called, and Jax glanced that direction as he was buckling his SAMCRO belt.
“Got a few things to take care of before tonight.” Such as my mother he thought before pecking her on the lips.
“So that’s a no to breakfast?”
“Fraid so. Sorry babe.”
“All good. Guess, we’ll see ya at the shop.”
Jax nodded then grabbed his wallet, keys, and cigarettes off the nightstand.
“Love you.” He called before exiting the bedroom.
“Love ya too!” She hollered in return and could hear Abel talking to his father about the cartoons he was watching.
Riona put her robe on then headed into the living room just as her husband was leaving.
“Daddy goes to work already,” Abel said.
“Aye, he’s got a busy day ahead of him.”
“Daddy says we go for ice cream at lunch though.”
“Oh, that sounds lovely.”
“It does! I wants chocolate with cookie dough.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
“What’s we having for breakfast?”
“Em, not sure. What would you like?”
“I want chicken nuggets!”
“For breakfast?!” Riona playfully scoffed, and Abel giggled.
“And French fries!”
“But I’m Irish!” She mocked in horror, and the boy died of laughter.
Jax drew back a troubled breath as he pulled up to his mother’s house. He thought back to everything Riona said and sat in silence. The man couldn’t sleep last night. All he could think about was the terrible things his mother said and did. Jax had his wife in a firm grasp throughout the night. He was afraid to let go, even for a second. If the porn studio didn’t run her off his mother was sure to. Hell, Tara would have if Riona had been there when he first arrived in Charming. Jax hadn’t any luck on his side when it came to his wife, and he just knew he was being tested. This was karma at its finest. He was paying for all the hell he’d ever caused. He was all for paying it back but didn’t want to lose Riona or his son in the process.
The man’s stomach churned in thought. He looked to that wedding band on his finger and laughed amongst himself. He knew his mother would give him hell on that one, wearing his father’s wedding band. But Jax had his reasons… He wanted that reminder. Jax could look at that ring and remember the beating his father gave him when he screwed around on Tara, and he’d remember his father’s words when it came to Riona and how desperate JT had been in trying to hook them up. His father was smitten, and Jax swore he would’ve run off with Riona himself if given a chance. Jax ran a single finger along that wedding band and found himself asking for his father’s guidance and strength. He needed it in order to face his mother. The things he was about to say were sure to hurt. But she’d gone too far, and Jax was done when it came to Gemma Morrow and her cruel games. She had no right. None. It was time for Jax to put that patch of his to use and set the law down. His mother’s queen days were long gone and had been. There was respect to be paid, and he’d make certain she paid it. If she didn’t… there would be consequences. He couldn’t afford to look at this as a mother and son situation. No. Gemma was a threat, and he had to treat her like one.
Jax climbed off his Harley then headed for the front door. The president raised his brows as it opened and his mother nodded in greeting before waving him inside. Jax shut the door behind him then followed her into the dining room where she sat down. She lit a cigarette then took a drag before sipping at a cup of coffee.
“Coffee?” She offered, and Jax closed his eyes in disbelief.
Gemma nodded and took another pull off her cigarette.
“Well go on… let me have it.” His mother said, and Jax opened his eyes on this.
He took notice of the gun she had in her purse and how it was within reach. Jax shook his head then nodded his mother’s direction.
“You gonna shoot me?” He challenged through clenched teeth.
“Don’t be stupid Jax. That gun isn’t for you. Besides, at this point, we both know it’d be the other way around. So I should be asking you that instead.” Gemma lifted her eyes, and they locked with her son’s.
“So what’s it going to be? You gonna shoot me, Jax?”
“If I have to,”Jax admitted without so much as flinching and Gemma smiled.
“That’s my boy. So much like your father. I was expecting you sooner to be honest.”
“What were you thinking… threatening my wife like that?! Didn’t I tell you to stay away from her?!”
Gemma leaned back then put her cigarette out in a nearby ashtray.
“All I can plead is insanity. You haven’t let me see my grandson but once since you’ve come back from Ireland. I barely see you, and when I do, we’re at each other’s throats. Not to mention I wasn’t invited to the oh so secret wedding! It’s like you’re pushing me further and further away. Pretty soon I’ll be nonexistent.”
“And whose fault is that? Huh?! It certainly isn’t Riona’s, and it isn’t mine either. You did this mom! Things were rocky between us as it was. But you couldn’t accept the new woman in my life. You’re as bad as Tara. No. I take that back. You’re worse.”
There was no disguising the offended look on her face. Jax laughed.
“Come on… how fucked up is it when your mother attempts to chase off any woman that enters your life?! You’ve been like this for years, and nothing about that is going to change. No one will ever be good enough. Rather sickening if you think about it. You’re my mother, Gemma. Quit acting as if I’m my father! I’m YOUR SON!”
Gemma’s jaw dropped, and Jax gritted his teeth.
“Don’t. Don’t look at me like that! Even you have to know there’s something extremely disturbing and fucked up about that!”
“I don’t care for the suggestion!”
“Then quit acting like a complete psychopath and act like my fucking mother again! Jesus Christ. Gemma, what does it take?! Huh?! All I asked out of you was to give my old lady a chance and for some fucking respect. If it wasn’t for Riona and her sister, Abel would’ve been raped and killed! But here you are… sitting here, sipping at that coffee, with that smug I don’t give a fuck look.”
“You think I don’t get what those girls have done for my grandson?”
“No. I really don’t. I don’t think you’ve even taken into consideration what all they went through in order to keep him safe and even if none of this had come about… You have no right. What I do with my old lady, my club, and my son… Those things are none of your business. You are not the queen anymore, and you haven’t been for some time. You got a small glimpse of that again when Clay was in office. But that’s all it was. It was never yours to keep. That title belongs to my wife now. So suck it up and pay her some motherfucking respect.”
“She knows nothing about the club. Hell, she’s not even from here!”
“Doesn’t matter. I chose her. I don’t have to explain myself to you or anyone else. What you did… goes against not only ME but the club. You disrespected not only my wife but Chibs’s old lady. That shit doesn’t fly, and you know it. Hell, you of all women should know what it means to disrespect the president’s old lady, much less his VP’s. You act as if you have some sort of reign, but you don’t. What we do with the club is OUR business, not yours. What Chibs and I do with our personal lives isn’t any of your business either. All you had to do was shut that “ridiculous yap” of yours and listen. But you chose not to, and all you did was dig that grave a little deeper. My son will never look at you the same way again. I tried to warn you, but you just wouldn’t listen. The only one distancing themselves… is you. You’re digging your own grave, and you have been ever since you chose Clay over my father and you just keep on digging. It’s like you’re ready to die. If you don’t watch it… I’ll make that happen. Mother or not… You come near my family again, if you so much as blink their direction. I’ll…”
“YOU CAN’T KEEP ME FROM MY GRANDBABY! I…”
Jax took his mother by surprise when he flipped her chair back and with her still in it. He hopped on over, stood directly above her then brought his knife to her throat.
“Don’t tell me what I can and can’t do. I’m not your son, I’m JT’s, and he was never one for taking your shit either. So back the fuck up. This is your last and final warning. I mean it, Gemma. Cross me again, and you had better run. I’m not playing your games anymore.” Jax’s hand trembled, and he had tears streaming down his face.
“You’ve hurt everyone I care about and love… You used to be all about family. It’s funny after Thomas died and Tara left…I thought I lost my way. But it wasn’t me… it was you. You’ve forgotten what family means, but I haven’t. I’ll die before I let you or anyone else hurt them. You know the sad thing about this… That’s how I felt about you even after you ripped my father’s heart out. I loved you. Part of me still does. That’s the only thing keeping you alive at this very moment.”
“Jax, you’re taking this too…”
“Don’t you say it! Don’t you even FUCKING SAY IT!” Jax pressed that knife up against his mother’s throat, and a tear trickled on down his face and onto his mother’s.
“Threatening to kill my wife… that was too far. Scaring my son was the final straw. You have no one to blame but yourself. As of now… you’re no longer my mother. You’re Gemma Morrow, and she’s dead to me. I have no mother and Abel has no grandmother. Take care of yourself, Gemma.” Jax said before leaving the house.
(Props to 4padfoot and her aid in the Reaper Row idea for SAMCRO! I’d be lost without her!)
