I do not own Smallville or Twilight. Read and then review please… Thank you. In the reviews there seems to be some concern about Bella always being the “Damsel” I can kind of see where it’s thought of like that. But she’s also a strong character I feel. However, as I’ve stated before I have plans for Bella that are coming sooner than you realize. She will eventually kick some ass.
She stares him down with disdain and takes in a deep breath.
“Lex…” She says into the phone.
He puts a hand upon the glass as if to caress her lovingly.
“You have no idea just how good it is to see you.”
She shakes her head.
“I’m not here for you Lex.”
He half smiles and brings his hand down.
“And what is it you’re here for?”
“It seems I’ve met your father.”
Lex leans back in his seat.
“Is that so?”
“Yes a very prestigious man much like yourself.” She says with full on sarcasm.
“I’m nothing like my father.”
“I beg to differ. You both even tend to use blackmail the same way. In fact I’d go as far as to say that you’re a spitting image. Only you’re lacking in the hair department.”
Lex rolls his eyes.
“I do try.”
“Well I always appreciated your wit and beauty far more than your humor.”
“And that’s why you and I would never work. Besides, I hear congratulations are in order daddy Luthor.” Bella kicks back and props her legs out on the table.
“Tell me Lex what do you hope for a boy or girl? Or maybe a something you can tend to kick around a bit more like a puppy?!”
“Play nice Isabella.”
“Why you never do. In fact it seems to be a family thing doesn’t it? I mean honestly, I’d hate to see what a Luthor gathering consist of.”
“Is that what you really came all the way here for? To discuss what it means to be a Luthor?”
“You’re right this is getting mighty boring. I thought about singing to you, but I forgot the words to SHOT THROUGH THE HEART on the way over here.”
Lex shakes his head and goes to stand. Bella brings her feet back down.
The guards look upon her. Lex looks back.
The guards take a step towards her. Lex motions for them to back off.
“I came here for one thing and one thing only.”
“And that would be?”
“I’m going to give you, you’re one chance to do something right. Something to prove you have a shred of humanity left in you. I want you to get your father to back off this. To make him step away and realize this is none of his business. I want you to make certain he leaves the Kent’s alone.”
“And how would I do that from here? As you can see I’m a bit limited.”
“You’re a Luthor figure it out. I’m sure you’ve got some resources somewhere.”
“And if I do not?”
Bella half laughs.
“I knew it…”
She comes to a stand.
“I suppose it’s time I take matters into my own hands you waste of space. Goodbye Lex. Enjoy spending the taxpayers money on your fancy new neon orange scrubs and three fresh meals a day.”
She slams down the red phone and flips him off. One of the guards roughly grabs her by the arm and escorts her out.
“Let me go you ass!”
She says and grabs her purse and keys from the plastic holder and dashes out of the prison.
Once she gets into her truck she dials Bruce Wayne.
“Is this Bella?”
“Um yeah. I was hoping you could do me a favor.”
“And what might that be?”
“I need to know everything you can find on Lionel Luthor.”
“Hmm, and why would you be getting yourself mixed up in that Ms. Swan?”
“Please just do me this favor. I’d owe you big time.”
“I really don’t know if you should be getting mixed up in Luthor business.”
“Bruce…” She takes in a breath.
“Just try and trust me on this. I desperately need something. Something big…”
“You mean as in blackmail?”
“Ugh is that the term we’re going to use?”
He chuckles a bit.
“I’m afraid so Ms. Swan.”
“Ok fine yes, but trust me. I need him taken down a notch. I need him afraid to even show his face in court.”
Clark slams down the empty beer bottle with frustration.
“You’ve got to be kidding me!” He’d been trying damn near all night to get drunk.
He laughs and crushes the bottle with his bare hand.
“You ok there sweetheart?”
He cocks a brow as a pretty blonde makes her way over.
“Why don’t I by you another one big boy?”
“I dig it.” He says with a shrug.
She smiles and waves over a waitress.
“Two more of these and get us a couple Jello shooters to go with it.”
He tilts his head checking her out. She was a curvy girl and looked to be older then he was. She ran a hand along his chest. He narrowed his eyes and used his X-ray vision to scope her out fully.
“Damn…” He utters with a grin.
He twirls her around giving her the once over.
She looks to him oddly.
“What’s your deal?”
“You’re not as sexy as she is though.”
The girl’s jaw drops.
“Just some girl I know.”
“You’re fucking kidding me right?”
She half laughs shaking her head.
“I just bought you a couple drinks and you’re comparing me to some other girl?”
He shrugs and tries to pull her into his lap. She punches him in the face. Clark sighs with slight irritation.
“What’s your deal you ragging or something?”
Her mouth flies open.
“What a creep!”
He chuckles as she struts away. Clark then downs the two beers that were sent to their table. No matter what he did though he still couldn’t get her out of his mind.
Bella sits back in her truck. She was parked outside a club. She stared upon the fake ID Chloe had made her. In fact they each had fake ID’s in which helped them deal with stories for The Torch. That and well it helped them get into R rated movies. A war went on in her head. She wanted one night just one in which to forget everything. She was growing a bit tired of the good girl act. She hit ignore on the phone as Johnathon had tried to call yet again. Thus, making a first for Bella Swan. She never purposely defied the Kent’s. However, she knew Clark was there and she couldn’t bear to face him. How the fuck do you live in a house with your ex? Especially, one you’re still madly in love with. One that unfortunately woke up and decide to become a full-fledged dick. She still couldn’t believe what had come out of his mouth and the way he was acting. It just wasn’t like him. She thought of the irony. She’d just got through dealing with Lana not long before that. She’d been thinking about how lucky she was to be with Clark. Granted, he wasn’t Lex by any stretch of the imagination. However, what he’d said really hurt her. Not only that, but Bella never was one that liked being publically humiliated.
She gets out of the truck and gets in line at the club. As she’s next to be allowed inside she flashes them her ID. Her nerves were getting to her that she’d get caught. This was a bit out of the realm for her. The guy nods and removes the rope allowing her inside.
Bella half laughed realizing she was underdressed a bit. These girls were in tight little mini dresses. She had half the mind to turn and bolt right on out of there. She hadn’t a clue what sort of club she’d just entered. She timidly finds a booth.
A certain dirty blonde haired man takes notice of her immediately. He was talking to a group of friends. He gives a nod towards her.
His friends shrug, each giving her the once over.
“She’s certainly new.” He says with a smug grin.
He downs his martini and continues to gaze her direction. He watches for a bit with full on curiosity. He’d never seen a girl enter this club with blue jean hip huggers and a sexy little black midriff. He found something refreshing about it. He got tired of the usual types. Mostly gold diggers; this girl had it going on. That and she was clearly alone. He kept waiting to see if someone was about to show up. Girl that hot someone’s bond to come along and make claims to her. Sure enough half an hour passed. The girl was still drinking alone. She wrinkled her nose off and on as if not fully enjoying whatever she was drinking.
He decidedly orders a couple more martinis and decides to make his way over. He approaches and places the martini in front of her.
“That might be more what you’re looking for.”
She looks to him oddly.
He slides into the booth across from her. She looks to him with full on irritation.
“That’s great.” She says with a shrug.
She pushes the martini back his direction.
“And you are?”
“Not interested.” She motions for him to scurry on.
“Forward aren’t we?”
“Funny I was thinking the same thing about you.”
“Look just let me buy you a couple drinks. Just two people getting to know one another.”
“Sure then we’ll head back to a nearby hotel and shag the night away.”
“I’m game.” He fires back at her sarcastic remark.
She half laughs and pinches the bridge of her nose.
“Look I’m really not the company you’re looking for. I just want to be left alone.”
“I can respect that. Could I at least have a name?”
He nods and offers his hand.
“It was a pleasure. Perhaps, one day you will require my company?”
“I’m just in town for the one day.”
“Oh you’re not from here?”
“AH, well that’s not very far.”
Bella looks to the time as Johnathon calls yet again. She hits ignore and slides the phone onto the table.
“You sure I can’t buy you a drink?”
“I’m certain. Thank you.”
He nods and takes her hand kissing it.
“Do take care.”
He walks away and Bella leans back shutting her eyes for a moment. She takes in a breath deciding to go ahead and brave heading back home. Bella makes her way out of the booth and heads for the door. One of Oliver’s friends come up behind her and puts a hand upon her shoulder.
Oliver watches curiously. Bella doesn’t even look back she swings back her fist full on.
“Go fuck yourself.”
His eyes widen and he covers his mouth in laughter. She doesn’t even look back she just keeps on walking. Holy shit I think I’m in love! Oliver thinks with disappointment as she exits the club.
Bella gets outside and starts to get her keys. However, she’s beginning to realize that she’s plastered. She’s stumbling around and things were blurry off and on. She looks around for a nearby hotel. Bella see’s one not too far off. She begins walking that direction.
Clark threw down his keys. He looked around the apartment. He kept in mind to get some more money from one of the ATM’s tomorrow. He’d need more for that new surround sound system he’d wanted. He shrugged in thought. Or perhaps I could just take it… He leaned back on his new couch. He kept a mental note of everything he needed to get for his new place. He wasn’t going back. No way! Especially, if he had to sit there and look upon her again! Why the hell wouldn’t she marry him! It was obvious they were meant to be! Was she lying all this time! Was she just with him out of Pity?! He growled under his breath and tossed his stolen coffee table across the apartment.
No longer did Clark want to play it safe. He’d grown tired of never having what he wanted. He’d simply take what he wanted now. He wasn’t going to hold back anymore. Clark was tired of the good guy mentality. What good did it ever bring him? Hell he just lost the girl of his dreams! He was done with all that mess. He wasn’t going back to that crappy town NOT EVER! To have his parents constantly huddling over him watching his every move. To have to see her face every day? To watch as she falls in love with someone else? Someone she’d be making love to nightly? Something he could never do! The thought of some other man even TOUCHING HER made him feel murderous. She’d end up marrying the asshole. The guy would constantly shove it in his face. Then she’d bare his children another thing he was certain he could never give her. Clark knew he’d die alone. He grabbed his nightstand and tossed it across the apartment as well. Everything about that town made him SICK everything it represented. It as a constant reminder of the fuck up he truly was. How everyone’s life had been affected because of his “arrival.”
That was another thing. Clark knew all he needed to know. The one part he hadn’t admitted to was what one of the messages had said. The one that had the old Clark Kent frightened beyond belief.
However, a smile came about his face now. Clark was meant to rule over this entire planet. He was meant to rise above them all! They were merely ants under his boot. A god amongst men!
Bella rolled over as her cell was going off yet again. She groaned out and looked to the time it was 9 am. She finally decided to brave it up and answer.
“Where the hell are you and Clark?!”
Bella rose up tiredly and rubbed the sleep from her eyes.
“Uncle John I…”
“NO! I don’t want to hear any excuses! You two need to get your ass’s home and now. Both of you are in…”
“Wait Clark’s not there?”
“What do you mean Bella isn’t he with you?”
She stumble out of the bed.
“Where are you?”
“Look I’ll explain when I get there. Are you sure Clark’s not just in his room or in the loft perhaps?”
“Bella he’s nowhere to be found.”
She takes in a breath.
“I’ll be home shortly.”
Bella hangs up and hops in the shower. Honestly, she figured he was probably just doing what she was. He too was probably in a hotel somewhere sulking. She figured that he too wasn’t ready to face the hell that was about to be unleashed.
Bella tosses her keys about the counter. Then takes her jacket off hanging it up. Martha and John’s eyes were sunken in as they sat at the dining room table. Both cut her a sheer look of disappointment. She swallowed back nervously. She said nothing she took out her phone and tried to call Clark. The three of them eyeing one another. His phone went straight to voicemail. She took in a breath.
“We’re both in big trouble; might want to come home now. Um later…”
Bella sighs and starts towards the stairs. John and Martha look to one another baffled.
“Not so fast.” Johnathon calls.
Bella shuts her eyes for a moment, but freezes.
“What’s going on?”
Great, now she gets to play the bad guy and admit she dumped their son. She took in the deepest of breathes. She was fucked anyway right so why not just spill it all out!
“Look I broke up with Clark. Afterword I went out got drunk and stayed at a hotel, because I was too drunk to drive.”
She starts towards the stairs again.
“This had better be one of those times you’re using sarcasm to mask something else.”
Bella pinches the bridge of her nose and half laughs.
“I’m afraid not. Everything I said was pretty spot on.”
“Why in the world would you break up with Clark?” Martha questioned in a state of near shock.
“The least you could do is get over here! Sit down like an adult and explain yourself!” Johnathon snapped.
Bella turned around shaking her head.
“When you see Clark again you should ask him that yourself!”
“What could he possibly do to cause you to go this far! I mean not just the dumping, but since when do you ever drink Bella hun?”
“I don’t know since maybe your son went totally off the deep end.”
Johnathon tapers his eyes a bit.
“How do you mean?”
“Well he damn near demanded we get married. Then when I turned him down he went ape shit on me!”
“What in the world?” Martha said softly.
“It wasn’t the fact that he proposed. Honestly, I almost said yes. That was until he said he wanted to do it; like right then. He wanted to run off to Vegas and get married at that very moment.”
“That doesn’t even sound like him.” Martha defended.
“Yeah well it was…”
Bella goes through the entire story and everything that took place. John and Martha sat at the table in utter disbelief.
Bella leans back with her arms folded.
“So where do you think he went?”
“I wouldn’t have a clue. I thought he went home.”
“Something’s certainly wrong…” Johnathon said in thought.
Bella thought of something else. She shot up out of her chair.
“Where you off to?”
“I think I might know where he is.”
She doesn’t give them time to react or question her further. Bella puts on her jacket and hops back into her truck. She takes off heading for the cave.
Once Bella gets there she steps out of the truck. She makes her way through the woods. Bella finds the area and she looks around. She clears her throat.
“Clark? Are you down there?”
She grabs the flashlight from her pocket and shines it through the area.
“Clark? Look if you’re down there. I didn’t come here to start trouble. I just… Look they’re worried you know. You should come home. If you want me to move out; I understand.”
She leans over seeing what she thought to be his shadow. She rolls her eyes.
“Oh come the fuck on Clark. I’m not in the mood. I know you’re in there I can see your shadow! Don’t make me jump in there! I’ll do it just to piss you off! You’d have to catch me or I’ll break my damn legs!”
She paces the area a bit; seeing his shadow moving about still.
“OK fine! I’m coming down!”
She shakes her head knowing this is going to suck if he decides to let her fall on her ass.
Bella takes in a breath and takes the leap.
“Um… you’re not Clark…”
The man was dressed in a denim jacket, denim pants, white shirt, and black boots. His hair was long and dark pulled back in a ponytail. He was built like Clark, but wirier. He was also Native American.
The man looks upon her oddly as he has her in his grasp. He narrows his eyes upon her strangely. He looks to the hole then back to her.
“Are you a crazy person?!” He shook his head in wonder.
“You must have a lot of faith in this Clark person.”
He sits her down looking to her in disbelief still. He checks her over making sure she wasn’t hurt.
“You do realize you could have broken your legs?”
She swallows back nervously.
“Who are you?”
He smiles warmly.
“My names Jacob… Jacob Black. My friends call me Jake.”
“Isabella Swan. I prefer Bella.”
