Chapter 4 Uninvited

Chapter 4

I do not own Twilight, Marvel, or the X-Men. AU.

“Ugh… do you have to do that at the table?”

Toad lifted his eyes but continued in his slurping as he ate. Bella placed a hand along her stomach looking rather ill.

“Morti… I really like you. But I won’t think twice about taking this knife and jamming it through that tongue of yours. KNOCK. IT. OFF!”

He raised his brows and retracted his tongue.

“Thank you…”

“You’re in a mood today…” He uttered.

Bella said nothing as she came to her feet and placed her dishes into the sink. She was rinsing them off when she broke into literal sobs. Toad hopped to his feet and made his way over.

“Did something happen?” He hinted knowing she’d just returned from the gynecologist.

Bella pinched the bridge of her nose and Toad reached over, turning off the sink.

“The assholes at the clinic wouldn’t see me today.”

“Apparently I’m a threat and I’m putting their other patients at risk.”

“That’s just an excuse… You know where they’re going with this.”

“I know. I went as far as to get the police involved. But they took the clinic’s side, once they saw the protestors standing outside.”

“They cannot deny you or that baby medical treatment.”

“The police suggested I get a private doctor and go from there.”

Toad curled his lip and punched at a nearby cabinet.

“So they’re treating you like you’re one of us now?!”

“It was bound to happen sooner or later. Just wait until they find out the baby’s…” she trailed off and sort of laughed.

“A mutant…” Toad finished that thought and she nodded looking grim.

They turned as something else had their attention now. Bella narrowed her eyes and made her way over to the TV playing in the living room. She turned up the volume.

And there you have it…. Unwed and with child. And I doubt she even knows who the father is. I’m willing to bet he’s a mutant! She is the new face of mutantkind after all. Is she not?! Word is she wants an abortion. So mutants… how do you feel about Miss. Swan standing behind you now? What’s it like knowing you were backing a baby killer aka mutant killer?!

Bella grabbed one of the potted plants and chucked it at the screen. She paced the area afterward.

“Baby killer? REALLY!?”

Bella jumped as the phone rang. Toad answered it then handed it over after.

“It’s for you.”

Bella drew back a breath before answering.

Please tell me none of this is true, Miss. Swan?”

Bella grimaced recognizing the man’s voice.

With all due respect Mr. Johnson you should know utter bullshit when you see it.”

She heard him sighing on the other end.

They have pictures…”

Yeah… of me at the clinic.”

And why were you there?”

For a checkup.”

At a women’s clinic?”

Jesus, what is this?”

As your sponsor I strongly advice that you tell me what’s going on Miss. Swan. Are you pregnant, or not?”

Well yes but…”

So you lied to me.”

I just asked you if any of that was true.”

I can’t believe I’m being drilled about this. This is my private life!”

With all due respect, you have no private life. Everything you do is in the public eye and it reflects on the cause in which you’re fighting for. Is that how you wish to be perceived? An out of wedlock woman that’s about to have her mutant baby aborted?!”

Bella gritted her teeth and hung up on the senator. She marched into the kitchen and bought down one of Erik’s scotches. She poured herself a glass but froze once she realized what she was about to do. Toad grimaced as she let out an agonizing scream and threw the bottle across the room. Toad snapped his attention towards the front door as it swung open.

“Where is she?” Erik questioned with a touch of desperation and Toad pointed to the kitchen.

The moment he spotted her he rushed over and pulled her into his arms.

“Shhh..” He whispered as she cried into his shoulder.

He made the gesture for Toad to give them their privacy. He nodded in understanding and took off. Erik closed his eyes and kissed the top of Bella’s head.

“This is only the beginning. They will find whatever they can, whether it be true or not. They are going to do everything within their power to defeat you and make you step down. That’s what they’re hoping for.”

He pulled back and lifted her chin with his fingers.

“You have them backed into a corner and they’re frightened out of their minds. And this is the only method of attack they have. They wish to reverse it… don’t you let them. You hear me?”

She nodded.

“How did the appointment go?” He asked as he wiped her tears away.

Bella revealed the truth behind that and the senator’s phone call as well. Erik nodded, looking to be in thought.

“Erik… What will we do if we can’t find a doctor?”

“You just let me worry on it. I will find you one. That child will be taken care of. I give you my word. In the meantime…”

With one little wave the TV was unplugged and the phone cord was ripped out. He scooped her up and carried her into the bathroom. He propped her up on the counter and ran her a bath.

“I want you to let it all go and focus on it tomorrow.”

“Let it go?” She scoffed.

“Do you know how many hours it takes for me to prepare and…”

“You’re not writing this one down. Tomorrow… Everything you say is going to come from here…,” he tapped his finger along the area of her heart.

“You don’t need cue cards or anything of the sort. You know what needs to be said and done. Use your words not your anger.” But as he said this Erik sort of laughed.

“I just realized who I sounded like.”

“And that is?”

“Just an old friend… The Schewein… (Bastard/Pig…)”

Once the tub was filled, he turned the water off. Bella snorted on this.

“That never gets old…” She murmured as Erik had a habit of using his powers for damn near everything, especially around the house.

He smiled and went on to unbutton her blouse. Once he had her undressed, he took a moment to appreciate the view.

“I rather like this… it’s different. Much more appeasing to the eyes.” He remarked as he ran a single finger along her sex.

Bella blushed on this.

“It’s rather popular in the 20th century…”

He raised his brows as he undressed.

“Is it now?”

She nodded and Erik spread her apart so he could have a better look.

“So very sexy…” He murmured as he placed a finger inside.

He pumped it back and forth. Once he had her good and wet he removed that finger then licked it clean. He closed his eyes for a moment and looked to be shaking something off. Bella let out a gasp as Erik dived on in. She clamped a hand over her mouth as he had that tongue of his at work. She brought her feet up on the counter and grabbed a fistful of his hair. Erik figured this was the best way to relieve some of that stress. He’d fuck it out of her. For him it was a win-win. And the more he thought on it, the more of a turn on it was – knowing he was the FIRST in all her sexual experiences. If anything, he saw it as a challenge. He felt the need to amp his game up. He’d ruin her for anyone else. By the time he was done, no man or mutant (for that matter) would even come close in comparison.

“Oh god, Erik!” She cried as she was humping his face.

He brought her down then spun her about so that she was facing the mirror. He grabbed a fistful of her hair and pulled her back against him. Erik leaned into her ear and gazed upon her reflection in the mirror.

“I want you to watch as I fuck you so hard; you’re going to need Charles’s chair when I’m done.”

He gave her no time to comment as he already fucking her.

“Now would you look at that?” He uttered in longing.

Bella had a full on blush going and Erik sent her a wink. He reached around and fondled her breasts as he continued. The more he observed, the more he couldn’t get over the fact that she was human. Nothing about her even felt human. She stood out amongst the rest. It was maddening. He wanted to hate her. He wanted nothing more than to dispose of her once she gave birth to his child. And that was the original plan when she first came to him. Gain her trust then rid of her when it came time. She was one of them, making her disposable. He wouldn’t have another ‘human’ raising a child of his. He wasn’t too pleased with outcome of the last two. Then again, their mother was a deadbeat druggy that was on and off again. She always had some sort of excuse as to why Erik wondered why he fucked her in the first place. The woman was a complete joke. But not Isabelle… no. Killing her would be a waste. She actually had purpose in this world and Erik truly believed that. And for the first time since losing his mother he found himself wanting to stand behind this human. He would stand against ANYONE that wished her or their child harm. Erik didn’t care what lengths he had to go through in order to do so.

“Are you falling asleep on me?” Erik questioned as they were in the tub and Bella was lying across his chest.

“I could…” She admitted as he had his hand running along her back.

“Hmmm.” He hummed looking to be in thought.

“So you and Charles have talked about these visions?”

She nodded against his chest.

“And what did he tell you?”

“Pretty much what I told you already… He seems to believe that you and I…” She blushed and sat up.

“You and I….” Erik probed.

Bella drew back a breath before answering.

“Were lovers…”

He raised his brows on this.

“Well that would most certainly explain the visions. But don’t you think we’d remember something like that?”

“You’d think…”

“I don’t see how that’s practicable to be honest.”

“You and me both…”

“And what is it you see when you have those night terrors of yours?”

Bella somewhat grimaced.

“I’d rather not say…”

“It’s something to do with the child, isn’t it?”

She nodded and came to her feet. Bella climbed on out of the tub and dried off. She placed one of Erik’s robes on after. Erik drained the tub and got out as well. Bella handed him a towel.

“Does something happen?”

“Erik… please. Just…”

He reached out and went to pull her towards him. Erik froze however and had this wide-eyed look about him.

Blood. There was so much blood. And Bella, she was sitting right in the middle of it. She was holding something in her arms and screaming on top of her lungs.

Erik dropped his hold and staggered back.

“What was that?!”

Wait… you saw that?!”

He nodded and Bella pinched the bridge of her nose.

“Well ask and you shall receive… I suppose.”

On this she headed out of the bathroom and Erik just stood there with this baffled presence. He couldn’t fathom having to see that every night and he knew without a shadow of a doubt that she did. He’d witnessed these terrors himself. When he exited the bathroom, he saw that Bella had gone on to bed. He leaned against the doorway and sighed.

“You’re in the wrong bed.”

“Am I?”

He nodded and pointed to his bedroom.

“Are you sure that’s a good idea?”

“I’m sure it’s a terrible idea, if I’m to be honest. But I’m also curious as to where this leads, so if you may…” That and he’d hopes of seeing more of these ‘visions’.

“Won’t this ruin your social life?”

“I believe we accomplished that part a few months ago.”

“Huh… well it sucks to be you.”

“That it does!”

Bella laughed.

“Does this mean you finally gathered the meaning behind that?”

“I’m afraid so.”

She smiled and crawled on out of the bed. But just as she was to enter his room, she leaned into his ear.

“One day I’ll teach you the other meaning behind that.”

“Erik!” Bella called out behind a giggle.

She woke to find her wrists bound to the bedpost. Erik had bent the metal of the frame around them.

“You have a very bad habit of talking in your sleep.” He remarked as he ran his fingers along her slightly bulged tummy.

She frowned as she could only imagine what he must’ve heard. Erik went to say something else but the bedroom door opened. Bella narrowed her eyes in wonder and Erik looked as though he’d seen a ghost. The young blonde smiled and made her way over. She sat at the edge of the bed and her only focus was that of Erik.

“Well hello, Erik. It’s been awhile.”

He’d this hand caught in the cookie jar appearance. The man was struck stupid and hadn’t any words at the moment.

“Erik?” Bella questioned seeing as how the two were gazing upon one another.

“It’s not like you to bring them home.”

Bella let out a miserable laugh and nudged Erik.

“Would you mind…” She hinted towards the bedpost, looking pissed.

The metal around her wrists spilt in half and Bella lowered her hands. She was quick to cover herself.

“Well aren’t you going to say something? Hi, perhaps?”

Bella snapped him a look.

“Yes Erik and why don’t you introduce us while you’re at it?!” Bella added.

Erik cleared his throat.

“Raven… Isabelle. Isabelle… Raven.”

The pretty blonde smiled.

“Isabelle…” She said finally acknowledging her presence.

“Now why don’t you be a dear and leave us…?”

“Excuse me?!”

“I believe you’ve served your purpose. We’ll call you a cab and you can go about your day.”

Bella sort of laughed.

“I’m not going anywhere.” But as she said this she looked to the time, realizing she was running late for work.

“Shit.” She hopped up and threw on a robe.

She looked to Erik on her way out.

“I don’t know what this is… But it had better get situated. I don’t play games.”

Bella slammed the door on the way out.

“Well she seems like a nice bed warmer…”

Erik sighed.

“What brings you here, Raven?”

“Now that doesn’t sound very welcoming…”

He shook his head and came to his feet.

“Oh my, you have been busy…” She remarked seeing as how he hadn’t a stitch of clothes on.

He ignored this and got dressed.

“Let’s skip the small talk and get to the point…”

“Don’t you think you should air out a bit, first?”

Erik ignored the sexual innuendo.

“How’d you get in here?”

Raven held up a key and he shook his head.

“You gave it to me, remember?”

“That I did…” He said looking to be in regrets.

Erik walked on over and took the key from her hold.

“Why do I get the impression that you’re NOT happy to see me?”

“Nooo…” He sarcastically remarked.

“And if I recall it wasn’t long AFTER I gave you that key and decided on taking our relationship to the next level, you left, without word as to where or why, and never returned.”

“But I’m here now…”

“That you are.”

“Didn’t you miss me?”

“Yes and no…”

“Well I missed you.”

“Did you now?”

She nodded and came to her feet. She walked on over and straightened the collar to his shirt. Raven ran a hand along his chest afterward.

“I’ve been doing some thinking… And I decided I want to help you build onto that dream we once shared.”

“And that would be?” He questioned as his eyes locked with hers.

“The Brotherhood. I’m sorry, Erik. I should’ve been there and I wasn’t. I…”

“There is no Brotherhood.”

“Wait… What?”

“I believe I’ve made myself clear.”

“What do you mean there is no Brotherhood?”

“It means just what I said.”

“But I saw Mortimer and…”

“It’s just the two of us now, Raven. The others have gone their separate ways.”

“But that makes no sense. You were all about the Brotherhood! What’s come over you?!”

She tilted her head and was observing his odd mannerisms.

“The human… the one that was just here. She’s done something, hasn’t she?!”

“No Raven… You did that all on your own.”

She reared back on this.

He gave a simple nod as he grabbed his wallet and keys.

“Now if you will… I’ve got other matters to attend. You can see yourself out.”

Is it true?!”

Bella picked up the mic and paced the area. The crowd was even thicker than usual and there was more media and journalists about. There were also a lot more protestors. They were questioning her left and right. Bella held up a hand.

“Look, I’m about to answer all your questions, so if you will… Please quiet down and let me get to it.”

The crowd grew quiet and Bella drew back a breath. She signaled one of the crew members over and asked for a chair. They were quick to gather one and she took a seat. After taking a few moments to collect herself, Bella cleared her throat. It felt unusually warm and her nerves were getting the best of her. This was the biggest turn out she’d had so far.

“First of all… Yes, I’m pregnant. Second… Yes, the father is a mutant, meaning there is a good chance that the child will be as well. Third… No, I haven’t ANY intentions of terminating the pregnancy. The child is of mutant and human blood. Why would I rid of it?! Fourth… Yes, I am ‘unwed’ as you would say. That being said, I stand by my convictions and note that I will NOT be stepping down. I will continue, despite the RIDICULOUS accusations and rumors at hand.”

Bella ignored the media’s attempts on stumping her and went on to more ‘important’ matters. And by the end… She managed to gain back her supporters, even that of the senator. In fact, once she finished, he made his way over and personally apologized then went on to congratulate her on a job well done.

After a long day, Bella stepped out of her heels then tossed her purse onto the counter.

“Erik?” She called wondering if he was home.

“Not quite…”

Bella froze and turned the direction in which the voice was coming from. It was the blonde from earlier this morning and she was sitting in Erik’s recliner. She’d a drink in hand.

“Would you care for one?”

“I’m good, thanks…”

Raven smiled and crossed her legs.

“Come now… Have a seat and we’ll get to know one another.”

With much reluctance, Bella made her way over and sat on the couch.

“And where is Erik?” She questioned feeling a bit on edge.

“Oh I’m sure he’ll be around shortly…”

The blonde smiled and sipped at her drink.

“So, you and Erik… How is that going by the way?”

“Good actually.”

“And for how long might I ask?”

“I’m sorry but who are you exactly?”

“Let’s just say I’m a ‘special’ friend of Erik’s.”

“Are you now?”

Raven nodded.

“Funny… he never mentioned you.”

“I doubt he would… considering.”

Raven got this rather egotistical grin about her.

“So he hasn’t told you…”

“Told me what exactly?” Bella questioned through gritted teeth.

“That you’re obviously not his first…” Raven said revealing herself. “And clearly not his best.”

Bella’s jaw dropped and Raven sent her menacing wink.

“Oh hun… Why would he want you when he’s got someone like me? You’re only human after all.”

“That’s enough, Raven.” Erik scolded as he exited one of the back rooms, letting his presence known.

Raven had this look off-kilter look as she hadn’t a clue he was even home.

“Erik!” She called out with a warm smile.

She came to her feet and greeted him with a peck on the cheek. Erik’s eyes however were glued to Bella’s. He went and sat at his recliner.

“How did it go?” He questioned as to the rally.

“It went fine… up until I came home that is.”

He nodded with this apologetic look about him.

“Home?!” Raven spat with a curled lip.

“You can’t be serious. Erik.”

Erik motioned Bella over. She sighed but came to her feet. Once she was within reach, he pulled her into his lap, and leaned into her ear.

“Would you give us a moment, please?”

She nodded and Erik kissed her forehead before she left the room. Once he heard the bedroom door close, he shot to his feet. He walked on over and backed Raven up against the wall.

“I thought I made myself perfectly clear…”

“Come on, Erik… do you even hear yourself?! Since when do you cater to a human? I mean honestly… she’s pathetic.”

He curled that lip of his and Raven let out a gasp as he had his hand wrapped around her throat. He lifted her up off the ground then whispered into her ear.

“Don’t you come into MY house and disrespect me or anyone in it. What I do is of MY business and NOT yours. You would do good to keep that in mind.”

“Erik… Stop. You’re hurting me.”

“Good… I want you to hurt. I want to rip out your heart and watch as you pick up the pieces.”

Her jaw dropped on his words and he gritted his teeth.

“After everything! I put myself out there just as you always hoped I would. And even before then, I did time so YOU wouldn’t have to. Everything I did was for you! But the moment I let my guard down and decide on giving US a try, you turned your back to me. And now here you are, acting as if you never left in the first place. As for the human… I will NOT have you intimidating her, in any way, shape, or form! Steer clear, Raven. I mean it, or you will be dealing with ME!”

“So that’s it? You and I are done, just like that?”

Erik shook his head and dropped his hold.

“We’ve been done. You decided on that one.”

“So I’ve been replaced by a human. Even the great ‘Magneto’ fell for a pretty face. And for the record… My leaving hadn’t anything to do with you or us in general. I had something to take care of. I was going to explain once I returned. I just never dreamed that I’d come home to find another BITCH in our bed.”

“Our bed? It hasn’t been ours in almost a year now!”

“Clearly. So you moved on. Good for you, Erik. I hope you’re happy with your pathetic little human.”

Erik winced back as Raven had tears streaming down her face. He sighed and took the key out from his pocket. He placed it into the palm of her hand.

“Until you get back on your feet…”

When Erik entered Bella’s room she was kicked back on the bed with this not so amused look about her.

“Thin walls…,” she remarked and he raised his brows on this.

“So you more or less cheated on your mutant lover with a pathetic human? Am I correct? Or did I mishear?”

Erik sighed and plopped down beside her.

“It’s all a very unfortunate misunderstanding.”

“Is it? Because it sounded pretty clear to me.”

Bella rolled on out of the bed and went to exit the bedroom only to see Raven standing at the door, eavesdropping.

“Really?!” Bella spat as she glanced back Erik’s direction.

“Unbelievable… She’s still here.”

“Do not question me in my own house.”

Bella regarded him in disbelief and sort of laughed.

“Very well, it looks like you’ve made your decision anyhow.”

Bella marched on over and grabbed a couple suitcases from the closet and started packing. Erik rolled his eyes and sat up.

“And just where do you think you’re going?”

“Anywhere but here. I’ve done the whole love triangle thing and I gotta say I’m not a fan. So you two have fun and the best of luck.”

“Don’t you think you’re overreacting?” Erik snapped as he sent one of the suitcases flying across the room.

“Don’t you even! I won’t have you using your powers against me. I get it… trust me I do. But that’s just another form of control and I won’t have it! And overreacting? Really? Piss off!” Bella shouted as she walked over and picked it back up.

Erik hopped off the bed and took the suitcase from her hold.

“Don’t you do this… Don’t you turn your back to me.”

Bella hauled off and slapped him.

“You already turned your back to me.”

“What have you done now, Erik?” Charles uttered as he saw Bella standing at the doorway of the manor.

Tears were streaming down her face and she was complete mess. Beast stepped aside and allowed her in.

“I’m sorry. I tried one of the hotels but the protestors…”

“You’re always welcome. Don’t you ever question that. Hank, please gather Miss. Swan’s belongings and get her a room ready.”

“As for you… come with me…”

Bella followed Charles into his office.

“May I?” He questioned as he put a couple fingers to his temple.

She sighed but nodded, giving him the go ahead. Once he saw what had taken place, he sighed as well and shook his head.

“I feel the need to apologize on both their behalves.”

“Why? You haven’t any control over what they do.”

Charles tilted his head on this.

“That may very well be. But I feel a sense of responsibility all the same, considering the history. As you already know Erik and I go back a ways. And Raven… I’ve often looked upon as a sister.”

“I’ve never felt so foolish. I mean honesty, me and Erik? Nothing about it makes sense. You should’ve seen the way he looked at me, once she arrived.”

“I did…” The professor reminded.

“And I can assure you that’s merely Erik slipping into his old ways again. When he and Raven get together it seems to be a bad habit of his. She never was good for him and vice versa.”

“And I’m bringing a child into this?!”

Charles recoiled on her behalf.

“Perhaps this is what Erik needs. Give him time think and rediscover himself. He’ll come around.”

“I seriously doubt that and at the moment I couldn’t care less.”

“That’s your anger talking and you’ve every right to feel the way you do.”

“Erik has this way of making me feel like I’m on this pedestal, that no matter what I do, I can never fall. But then he turns around and makes me feel worthless and looks upon me like I’m the biggest mistake he’s ever made.”

“On the contrary, you’re what he needs, even if he doesn’t realize it.”

Raven took Erik’s drink from his hold and crawled into his lap. She leaned into his chest and Erik sighed as he wrapped his arms around her.

“I shouldn’t have left. I…”

“Raven, where did you go and why?”

“I can’t tell you. I just need you to trust me.”

“I thought you could tell me anything.”

“And I can… just not this time. The issue has been taken care of and that’s all that matters, is that I’m home now.”

Erik closed his eyes, doing his best to make sense of everything. When he opened them Raven was in her true form, naked, and grinding against him. She kissed him and he found himself kissing her in return. He always thought Mystique was the most beautiful being known to man and mutant kind. And part of him still did. But as he kissed her someone else came to mind, someone that rose above that now. It wasn’t something he planned and the guilt weighed upon him, heavily. He’d have never slept with Isabelle if he had known the truth behind Raven. Nevertheless, it was far too late for that. And the mere idea of her walking in on this… had him feeling ill. It took all will as he put a stop to it. He swallowed back and put his forehead to hers.

“Perfection… as always. You are so beautiful, Raven. And you will always have a special place in my heart. But at the moment… it belongs to someone else.”

“Erik…,” she whimpered.

He removed her from his lap and she paced the area, looking distraught.

Erik flew out of his chair and got right in her face.

“You’ll do no such thing. I mean it, Raven. You will leave the human be.”

“Do you even hear yourself?! Since when does Magneto give into a human?! She’s nothing, just like all the others!” Erik recoiled and shook his head on this. “LOOK AT ME! You and I make sense! There is no future with her and there never will be!”

“You speak of something you know nothing about. This one… she’s not like the others. And would you please put some clothes on!”

Raven reared back looking offended.

“I cannot have Isabelle walking in and seeing this. So please, just do as I ask.”

“I DO NOT CARE WHAT SHE THINKS! I will walk around as I damn well please!”

“Raven, you do not wish to test me on this matter. Now do as you’re told and GET DRESSED! If you do not obey my wishes then I will have no choice but to revoke your invitation.”

“Invitation?! This is OUR home!”

“This home is for those under my protection. If you cannot accept that, then you have no place here.”

“Are you alright?”

Bella nodded as she was leaning against the wall.

“It comes and goes…,” she hinted as to the morning sickness.

Charles nodded in response.

“It’s strange…”

“And what would that be?”

“It seems more potent as of late…”

“You mean since you’ve arrived at the mansion?”

“You’ve been through a great deal as of late. Perhaps you are more stressed than usual.”

Bella didn’t comment and inched her way towards one of the cafeteria tables. She sat down, crossed her arms about the table, and buried her face. Charles signaled for one of the women to gather Bella a tray. The woman brought it over and Charles thanked her. Bella would’ve as well but at the moment she was afraid of hurling. Her stomach growled with hunger but the smell of the food only added to her misery. She clamped a hand over her mouth and turned her head. Just as she was about to upchuck, Quicksilver(aka Pietro) appeared, bucket in hand. Charles raised his brows as Bella vomited and right into the bucket.

“Um… thanks!” Bella said with a flushed face.

Quicksilver gave a simple nod and handed the bucket over. He plopped down beside her and had this odd look about him.

“What?” Bella questioned as she was hovered over the bucket.

“Are you going to become my stepmom?”

Bella’s eyes widened and she upchucked yet again. Charles softly chuckled but was quick to clear his throat as Bella cut him a glance.

“Highly unlikely…,” she remarked.

“So it’s going to be like our situation?”

She regarded the teenage boy in question.

“You know… It’s just mom and Wanda.”

“My sister. We’re twins, you know…,” he pointed to another table where a pretty brunette haired girl was sitting.

Bella’s had this bewildered look about her.

“Is your mother a mutant?”

“Nope she’s human, like you.”

Bella nodded and Charles could see it written all over her face. She was afraid of being cast aside like that of the twins’ mother. The young woman came to her feet and excused herself from the table. Bella decided it would be best if she kept herself distracted. And the only thing that came to mind was to bury herself in work.

“You’re early…” Her boss remarked as he entered her office.

She nodded and continued on her research.

“Well that worked out rather perfectly. Mr. Johnson is here and he wishes to see you. Should I send him on in?”

Bella lifted her eyes and stopped what she was doing.

“Like now?” She asked as she looked to the clutter on her desk.

Her boss laughed and waved him on in. Mr. Johnson entered the room and nodded upon her in greeting. Bella was quick to clear her desk and Mr. Allison left the room.

“My apologies, I should’ve called first.” The senator remarked seeing the flustered appearance on her face.

Bella forced a smile.

“Nonsense. What brings you?”

“Actually, this isn’t really business related.”

“I was wondering if you would join me for lunch?”

Bella regarded the man in utmost surprise.

Lunch?” She questioned and he nodded with a touch of a smile.

“Yes Miss. Swan, I’d like to take you to lunch.”

Her stomach growled and Bella drew back a hesitant breath.

“I can do that.”

He nodded.

“Then I shall see you then.”

Bella and Mr. Johnson were laughing as they stepped out of the restaurant. The young woman froze however as she saw Erik exiting the building next door. He adjusted his fedora and nodded upon her. Bella frowned and turned her back to him.

“Is something wrong?” Mr. Johnson questioned taking notice.

“Nope. I just have a lot of work to take care of back at the office.”

“Isn’t he a friend of yours?” He asked as they were walking away.

“No friend of mine…”

She heard him call but kept walking. Mr. Johnson opened the limo door for her and just as she was to get in, the door slammed shut. This had the senator looking to his hand in question.

“… dammit Erik…” Bella whispered.

She pivoted around and Erik made his way over.

“Might I have a word?”

“I’ve nothing to say to you.”

“That maybe, but I’ve some things that need to be said.”

“And you seem to have mistaken me for someone that gives a damn.”

Bella opened the door.

“Good day, Erik.” She murmured as she slid on in.

The senator and Erik locked eyes for a brief moment.

“I’m not about to claim that I understand what’s going on between you two, but Miss. Swan is a beautiful and very intelligent young woman. A young woman that should be cherished, I can promise I won’t be making that mistake.”

The senator gave Erik a winning smile as he turned and followed after her.

“Couldn’t sleep?” Charles questioned causing Bella to jump.

“It wasn’t my intention to startle you.”

She smiled.

“Seems as though I’m easy to startle these days.”

Charles wheeled himself over and they looked to the stars.

“Are you certain of the history between Erik and I?”

“And what would happen if things didn’t follow through?”

“I’m not 100 percent certain. As I’ve stated before… I’m having a bit of trouble reading you. Just as yesterday it took more oomph as you would say to get through.”

“Funny, considering what Edward used to say.”

“My vampire boyfriend… or was.”

Vampire? How intriguing…”

“It wasn’t near as exciting as you’d think.”

Charles had a good laugh at this.

“And what is it he used to say?”

“That he could read everyone but me. He was a telepath, like you.”

“Interesting… I’m curious if it has anything to do with the events that brought you to the future.”

“With all due respect… How do you know all this?”

“Let’s just say about a year or so ago I had an old friend mention something about a woman from the future and how she would have special meaning to us all, mainly that of the mutant known as Magneto.”

“Well apparently your friend was mistaken, unless he was speaking of the child itself and not so much me.”

“That’s a possibility. However I get the feeling he meant the woman in general.”

“And what is the history between you and I?”

Charles looked to be in thought.

“From my understanding… You and I were very close. I get the feeling that we were good friends. And through you and Erik… I gained what was once lost.”

“The history between you and I makes a lot more sense than that of me and Erik. I saw him today and…”

Charles narrowed his eyes on this.

“I couldn’t stand the sight of him. I was so angry…”

“That’s a normal reaction when those we care about hurt us.”

“I don’t give a damn about Erik. If it wasn’t for this child, I’d have nothing to do with him. He’s more than proved…”

Bella gasped back however as Charles had his fingers along his temples and was reading her.

“CHARLES!” She scolded but he ignored this and continued.

She gritted her teeth and was doing her best to push him out. When he finished, Bella shot to her feet.

“I didn’t give you permission!”

“You love him.”

“If that’s what you saw than you’re an even bigger idiot than that of Erik!”

Charles drew back a breath and shook his head as she walked away.

“I might be a man but I think Erik beat me in the idiot department… He hasn’t a clue.” Charles muttered under his breath.

The following day…

“I’ve told you to call me Bradley.”

“Force of habit.”

Mr. Johnson nodded in understanding.

“And what are you doing for dinner tonight?”

Bella lifted her eyes and lowered her pen.

“Haven’t thought that far ahead.”

“Well perhaps you could join me?”

“For dinner?” She questioned as it wasn’t truly processing.

“Well yes… as in a date.”

Bella choked back on her coffee and hit at her chest.

“You can’t be serious… I’m with child and not just any child but that of a mutant – possibly.”

“And what does that have to do with anything?”

Bella found herself taken back.

“You can’t be serious. You’d date someone like me?”

“Why wouldn’t I?”

“With all due respect, you’re a senator and dating me wouldn’t be in YOUR best interest.”

“You seem to think I care about others opinions…”

“Do you not remember that particular phone call? You know… about how others will perceive me etc…?!”

He nodded.

“And I was wrong. I cannot apologize enough. I happen to like you, Bella. A great deal in fact.”

Bella drew back a breath and leaned back. This was the kind of man you just didn’t say no to.

And even she knew how stupid she was about to come off as…

“I’m afraid I must decline your offer. And trust me when I say it’s more to do with me and my current situation than you. If things were different I might’ve considered. But I’m just not in the right frame of mind at the moment and it wouldn’t be fair to you. I think it would be best if we remain professional and forget this ever happened.”

She winced, taking notice of the defeated look on his face.

“If that is what you wish. If you change your mind, let me know. The offer still stands.”

She nodded and Mr. Johnson showed himself out. But once he left the room, Bella pinched the bridge of her nose. Under normal circumstances she would’ve accepted. Bella looked up as there was another knock at the door.

“Delivery for a Miss. Isabelle Swan”

Bella narrowed her eyes and motioned the man over. She signed for the package and he left directly after. She grabbed a letter opener and used it to open the box. There was a pillow inside and with her initials stitched into it.

“How strange…” She whispered as she picked it up and got a better look.

Part of the stitching had come loose and Bella stuck her finger inside. It was then she took notice of the blue feathers within. She thought nothing of it till it came time for her next speech. Just as she stepped out and grabbed the mic, the squealing of tires was heard. The crowd panicked and spread apart as it was coming right for them. The doors to the back swung open and someone was tossed out of it. It took off directly after. Bella made her way off the stage and through the panicked crowd. She came to a halt once she saw the all too familiar body. The area around her seemed to spin, her ears were ringing, and her face was on fire. Bella hunched over and reached to her gut.

“SHE’S BLEEDING! SOMEONE HELP!” A woman shouted. Bella looked over then looked to the area in which the woman was pointing. There was blood running down her legs and onto the asphalt.

“…no…” She whispered in alarm.

Someone scooped her up and her eyes locked with his.

“Morti… please, my baby.”

(Be a good sport by leaving your comment/review or a simple ‘like’, if you dug the chapter. BTW Bella WILL NOT be a mutant in this story. Sorry to disappoint. I have received several messages about this and it wouldn’t fit the story. I need her human and so does Erik 😉 even if he doesn’t know it. I will be working on chapter 5 next then do a chapter on my Chibs/Bella story. If I get the time this weekend will work on getting that Harry Potter one as well.)

  6. You can’t leave us hanging like that!
Hot damn what a chapter! Can’t believe how stupid Erik is being. Raven is really mucking up everything. The poor fairy girl. And fingers crossed baby ok.
    Can’t wait for more!

  7. Wow i would never thought of raven showing up this early and im surprised she didn’t recognised Bella since she has been the talk of the news. Oh no not the baby 😦 ahhh a cliffhanger! D:

  8. Erik is such a dumby, but I kind of expect it from him to a point.
I also am not too worried about Bella losing the baby because well, until you explicitly state she did I don’t think I should worry. Especially when a huge portion of the plot of this story surrounds her being pregnant.
    Looking forward to more!
